I replaced the black airbox covers on my vaquero with the chrome voyager covers.i was
okay with the $120.that kawi charged for them.i was not okay with the additional $180.
they wanted for the decals that go in the center of the cover.

Agreed. I have several buddies on Harley's and it doesn't seem to be any more unreasonable for their parts than for the metrics. The difference for me was the cost of the bike more than the cost of making it "mine". I just felt that I got a really great deal from Kaw for my Vaq, and with the FP exhaust, it looks and sounds awesome. My bike generally draws more attention than the Harley's I ride with. Just sayin........
