Taking Wife and Ms Bea for a Hill Country ride

Leaving Thurs 10-8-08 for the Hill Country. Wife is driving the RV while I cruise on the Nomad down Hwy 281. We are going to set up camp in near Johnson City and meet our Austinite son who rides a 2007 VN900LT. We are going to ride some hill country roads.

Then we are also going to detour up to Corsicana for some sight seeing. Probably take about 10 days for this trip. We pray for a safe trip and hope to have a good time.

You and your wife have a safe trip, Bill. I just got back from taking two trips to the Hill Country. I try and take a Hill Country trip every year. I just love that area. Despite the fact that Skeeter lives in Kerrville....

Only caveat right now is RR 337 between Vanderpool and Leakey. If you ride it, keep in mind it's under construction. About 2 miles of it is dirt.

Yeah, I meant 11-08-08. The older I get the more I make those kinds of errors.

Camped near Johnson City. Rode over to Luckenboch, TX today. Saw some pretty country and many deer. Most creeks and stock tanks are bone dry.

I have read Trips' report on his Hill Country ride. The Leakey area sounds great. We hope to see the Lost Maples and the motorcycle museum. I would like to see the Johnson Ranch too.

Next weekend we are stopping by Corsicana on the way home, wife wants me to take her square dancing. I like the peaceful riding of Highways 22, 171, 31.

Sure hope the weather stays like this.
