Nomad shifter issue

I changed out the shifter on my '14 Nomad (or are we still calling them "nad"s or "mad"s or something? ) this afternoon in the warm rain. (I have no garage.) The previous owner removed the shifter to cut the heel portion off. His bike (then) so I guess he could do what he wanted.

Anyway, I neglected to take pics of the shifter connections before I took everything apart and apparently, I've put it back together incorrectly. I can shift into 1st and back to neutral but it won't let me shift into 2-6. I can push on the heel pedal but something's stopping it from moving. I'm sure I have the linkage messed up.

I tried it with the rear connection upside down but the rod hit the top of the kickstand.

I'll attach some pics and would appreciate it if someone could post their own pics of how it should be and what I've done wrong.

Thanks, guys.

Hope this helps. Mine is the extended version from Chuckster.
As for your starter situation. Not sure what happened but if I hit mine while running all that happens is the headlight flashes off then back on.

You know you can;t shift past 1st just sitting still. Also when you are coming to a stop you need to down shift to first before you come to a stop. Or you will have a hellav time getting it into first.

Thanks a heap! I could have sworn I could shift into 2-5th (or 6th, depending on the bike) on every other bike I've ever had. OTOH, it's been a few years since I've had a bike so maybe my memory is getting foggy.

Thanks, again! Tires are aired up (30# rear/20# front, now ~40# for each) and time to go for a ride.

The bike HAS to be rolling for the gears to shift smoothly.Theres no way around it.

I could have SWORN it would shift all through the gears while stopped. I don't know why I thought that. Once I got it moving, it shifted very well although the toe peg could be a bit wider.
