iPod remote control

Hey do you listen to an ipod while you're on the Nomad?
I do. I don't have a mount for it and I am always leery of it getting wet if I happened to hit some of that stuff while riding. I like to keep it in my breast pocket of my jacket. This makes it pretty hard to control the volume, selection, pause, stop and start, etc while riding. I use to hate pulling to a stop with a friend and have to either pull out the "buds", or fumble with the ipod to turn it off or down so I could hear and speak to my riding companion. But now I found a remote control from Maxell that let's me do all the above mentioned. There's an antenna that plugs into the iPod, and a controller that mounts on your handle bars. I shortened the strap to fit. Now I can stop, start, skip, adjust the volume all from the handle bar without ever fumbling with the ipod. You do lose a bit on the volume but it's still just fine.

I use my Ipod on the bike and know exactly what you mean about adjusting it. How much did it cost , I'll run over to Princess Auto tomorrow and see if they have them here.

Sounds like something I could use. I was listening to my Ipod this summer while pulling into the gate at Mount Lassen Park. The ranger gal was trying to get my 5 bucks and give me her spiel about the park. I had a 3/4 helmet on, (couldn't pull my buds out) and my Ipod was in an inside jacket pocket. It was cranked up pretty loud, too. Couldn't hear a word she was saying - she must have thought I was a total nutjob! I'm going to check these out. Thanks!

Steve,.... it was like $6.00 and change. It's made of plastic but I think it's OK. The remote clips in and out for when you wash the bike. I think behind the wind screen it'll stay pretty dry if it rains while you're riding. It's made for someone who might be a runner or for something in the sports arena so to speak. That strap is shown around a woman's arm on the packaging. I don't know.... it works for me at $6.00.

I have one of the maxell remotes and it works well when i am using my Ipod.

Either I can't look it up correctly or the Canadian Dollar is worth a heck of a lot more than the US dollar. Prices are in the $40's

I stopped in at Princess Aoto on the way to work a couple hours ago and picked up a couple of them. I'll try them out at dinner time shortly and see how they work. There are two different types of remotes available, so I picked up one of each for $6.99 each.

I tried to use it but it takes a watch battery thats not included, so I'll pick one up tomorrow. The other unit is a remote control and reciever, item #191201 model P-1. I think I can use that in the garage to listen to the ipod through the ghetto blaster that I have there. They both seem like a couple of handy items.

gghost, ....not sure if you didn't look it up right or not. Try again.
I might be able to get you one eventually, but right now I'm tied up packing to move and once I get settled I have KawaNOW T-shirt orders to do. But if you're not in a hurry.......

Steve,...put up a photo of the other one if you don't mind. I'd be interested in seeing what it looks like.

Sorry I didn't mention about the battery.... it did say it wasn't incl. on the pkg.. Something I didn't mention that could be noted, is that you can plug your ipod usb cable into the bottom of the antenna and if you have a USB attach. that plugs in to your 12 volt receptacle you can charge your ipod at the same time.

I'll snap a shot tomorrow, and I still have to pick up a battery. I went on a 265 mile ride today and it would have come in handy to be able to adjust the ipod.
