From what the news is saying they were caught trying to cross the Rainbow Bridge from the US in to Canada at Niagra Falls. They said they were refugees.

Way back in the early 80s we trained 15 Algerian maintenance workers the ins and outs of our equipment. After their 4 weeks of training they flew out of Chicago to NY for a connection to Paris. Only 2 made that flight to Paris. The other 13 were never heard from again. Let's see, NY or Sidi Bel Abbes, which was a $h*thole then and probably still is.

Can't say if I were in their shoes I wouldn't have done the same thing.

Read they were captured trying to get into Canada. They were probably under the impression that the Canadians didn't care about their borders either.
