Vance and Hines Slip ons install

Ok, ordered a pair of Slash Cut slip ons for my Vaquero. Is there anything I need to know about installation?
I know, on my Nomad, there was an issue with getting the left muffler on, due to excess chrome (should have used an expander). So, was wondering if I'm going to run into any hiccups.

On my Voyager the forward heat shield was a pain but nothing special. Just took my time doing mine and followed the instructions and it went well.

Is the forward on the right pipe? I've already had the shield off for the left pipe, I think when I was installing floor boards.

Yep, right side. Several others have also said to take advantage and wrap the pipes while you have the shields loose. Just take them off and do it all.

Wrap the pipes with muffler wrap? or do the baffles.

Header wrap or exhaust wrap as some call it, and yes wrap the pipes.

Gaskets. Sometimes the gasket will come off inside the OEM muffler. It did with mine. I reinstalled the OEM, then tightened it a little, then wiggled & gently twisted the OEm off the bike and that left the gasket in place. those gaskets are fragile, so be careful...if you haven't already done it.

Gaskets? there's gaskets where the mufflers mount? I didn't buy a full set of headers.

Yes, there's a gasket on the pipe where the mufflers attach. The gaskets are about in inch or so wide, about 1/8 in thick, kind of a weird material. They should stay on the pipe,a nd the mufflers are designed to fit snuggly over the gaskets to create a seal when you titghten the clamps. If you pull the OEM muffler off and don't see the gasket on the pipe, then it's inside the OEM muffler.

All set. What an easy install. Sound great too. Only had to bump the radio up 1. Road a poker run, then when it cooled checked all the connections.

Glad it worked out. I'm having a dealer throw a set on for me when the season is over.

Wouldn't even pay the dealer. Very easy to do yourself. I found a set on ebay for 390, free shipping. Took prob an hour, and that was with having to take off the bags and such

Mine arrived today. I may attempt to install them tonight. I have a floor jack, will I need it?
