Ultimate baffle

Have read a lot of posts about the ultimate baffles for the Vance and Hines true duals.

What diferences have you guys noticed between the V&H baffles to the Unltimate.

On mine, the tone is a little deeper, and maybe a little louder. I'm quite pleased with them.

I think it is personal preference and probably most will tell you how much they like the Ultimates. I really liked their Harley like sound going down the road.

At the risk of being flogged around here, my opinion is the Ultimates are too loud and tinny at an idle. The V&H bafflles are fairly quiet if you a going slow or idling.

I did not consider the Cobra since I heard the baffles were not removable.

My personal preference is the V&H baffles without packing. I want to try wrapping the V&H baffles with sheet metal and see how that sounds.

I think you can find some audio your looking for on youtube. I like the Roadhouse pipe sound too.

Again, it is just one's opinion of the sounds. I believe a Harley with V&H sounds the best of all motorcycles, but I chose a Nomad for many other more important reasons.

I love the Ultimates, but only for shorter one up rides. When mama joins or I'm going for the entire day I put the wrapped V&H's back in. Ultimates are awesome, but the roar starts to take a toll after many hours, and trying to comunicate with a rider under throtle is near impossible. My favorite thing about the ultimates is the roar you get on deceleration, I often down shift just to hear it.

Deeper tone and louder than V & H wrapped. I like mine but the wife isn't crazy about them riding on the pillion. She can't hear the caller speaking on her cell phone. Other than that minor problem, I like em.

I'm with Jeff; UBs are a kick when riding solo on short trips, but combine the missus and extra miles and it is not my first choice. They are deeper and have a tinny pinging kind of sound. I have tried packing the V&H baffles different recently, but haven't tried them since the bike is down. I am curious about the more constrictive screens too.

I installed a set of UBs and ran them for about 300 miles they sound great but they are way too loud for me to ride any distance but they do get attention. I’m now running the Vance & Hines baffles wrapped with stove rope packing per Gadget’s web site but I also attached a shower floor drain screens like the Ubs have to the inside of each baffle I really like the sound of them now, they have a deep rumble that still gets attention and many compliments. The thing I didn’t like about the stock Vance & Hines baffles was the annoying tinny drone sound they had at interstate speeds, it’s hard for me to explain the tone but anybody who runs stock Vance & Hines pipes knows what I am talking about, but maybe it doesn’t bother everybody.

How long has the stove gasket held up?

I have about 15,000 miles on them now, I haven't pulled the baffles back out to check them as it still sounds the same as the day I installed it. If your are going to use the stove rope packing I really suggest putting the shower drain screens on as they made a huge defference.

I suggested the stove rope wrap a couple yrs ago but nobody liked the idea then, hope you do now. I have the UB and they are alot louder than stock V&H. I run them mostly around town work-back situations. I do wear ear plugs now where with stock I didnt.

Stove rope on the V&H's for me too. Mellows them just enough that they aren't obnoxious like the Ultimates, but still a nice rumble. I switch between the UB's and the stove rope V&H's depending on if I solo the bike, or set up for two. Easy enough to switch, and it's like having two different bikes. Now that I have the batwing as well, I can go with so many configurations that I might never get tired of this bike:)

Took a 300 mile round trip today with the UB's. The wife rode with me to Eunice (150 miles) and didn't complain. I rode the forst 150 without hearing protection and the wind bothered me more thant the pipes. Rode back with ear plugs but didn't stop to put the rain gear. Got soaked about half way home. I'm going to leave the UB's in with the round hole shower drain covers and maybe take the pin out to see what if any difference it will make.

I put them in my first nomad, had them in that bike for 15K. I've had them in my currant Nomad for 10K. I love them!! I ridden coast to coast with them and haven't had any issues. On long rides, I wear ear buds and listen to music, and wear a full face helmet. I've never noticed them being too loud. My wife likes them as well and had never complained.
