Our weekend ride

Liz had to work Sat. until 1 :'( and then we left to finish riding the roads in the NE quarter of MO. I now have ridden every numbered State road from the Missouri river north to Iowa and from the Mississippi river west to Hwy 65. No prize, trophy or patch, just personal gratification and bragging rights for me.

But it was not all a good ride. ??? To get to the roads on the north side of St. Louis we crossed the Mississippi river at Louisiana and then went south to Alton, IL. At Alton we ran into a thunderstorm with heavy rain, and lightning. We heard later on the news that right after we got through there, the storm dropped pea size hail and a tornado was spotted. I was
trying to stay on hwy 94 and at one spot we rode through about 10 inches of water under a railroad underpass. Liz said she had water flying clear up onto her helmet. :(" title="" border="0"/>

I was told about motels being available at different intersection of hwy 94 but none could be found and we ended up riding it all the way to Washington, MO before we found a motel and then got the very last room in the place, at 8 that night. :( We took off our wet cloths, put our rain pants back on walked next door to eat and then did laundry. :-[

Sunday was a much better day. We crused back north toward Hannibal planning to ride hwy 79, the river road. :)But about 10 miles north of Louisiana we where detoured over to Hwy 61 :(" title="" border="0"/>on route B as part of hwy 79 had been washed out and fell down the hill from all the heavy rains we have been having. :'(

To us every trip is an adventure. Sometimes good. Sometimes bad. But they keep us excited :)and alive, alway looking forward to the next trip ;). As they say it is not the destination it is the journey.

Our weekend ride

After going to the central KawaNOW rally, making it to Oregon and back. I had hoped to get to ride all lower 48 states but I don't believe that is going to happen.
