These engines need a few minutes to warm before the throttle response is crisp and clean. Fuel injection is still set to run a little rich until the engine gets a little warmth to it.
Thing I noticed first was that the off throttle response from a cruising speed was be far smoother. Before, my bike felt like you had hit the kill switch as the rpm's lowered. On throttle was smoother, crisper response. Low speeds with little throttle were less 'jerky'. I added the V&H slip-ons at the same time but later found that my engine is smoother through the entire throttle range with the Ivans reflash and stock mufflers. Low rpm's to mid rpm's in all gears is smooth and responsive.

Don't be afraid of winding the bike out in the gears. The action happens between 2500 and 3000 rpm.

Oh, I am not afraid. Its fun sometimes, but you really start to loose some grunt around 5,100 rpms anyway
Just stretching it's legs a bit.

I did Ivan's reflash and love runs a lot better but every now and then I get a high idle. One time I thought I was going to have to turn back as it would not drop down below maybe 1500 to 1800 but calmed down to normal in a few miles. Don't know what's up with this

Maybe a dirty throttle body.

Mine has done that as well. Sitting at a light in gear, idle at 1,500. If I put it into neutral, it will drop down to normal. Problem was, we were in a park, slow-n-go traffic, lot of clutch work. The engine was cooking! It did this for the entire trip. Next trip, everything was back to normal. I've only had it happen a couple of times, key off and restart seems to clear it up. I don't like doing that in traffic ...

That may have been a good thing, the high idle. Kept the coolant flowing good for the fan to cool it down.

I am not sure if someone took over the business in the U.K.
Ivans associate in the U.K passed away.

Contact Ivan in the U.S by phone, he does not like emails.
