Gas station events

I was stopped at an Exxon to get gas today. I finished filling up and was getting my gear on to ride. A lady pulled up about 2 pumps in front of me as I was getting ready to go. She already had her credit card done to turn it on and when she grabbed the pump handle she squeezed the lever and set the lock to keep the gas flowing (accidentally) before she stuck it in her tank! She panicked and was holding the gas handle like a water hose washing the parking lot down. I said what the He!! and jumped off the bike a ran over and took it out of her hand and cut it off. She didn't know what she had done and thought something was wrong with the pump. I actually caught it before she ran about a gallon on the ground. The lady that ran the station was pissed but glad I stopped it. Be observant at the gas pumps. Never know what you will see!

No but wish I did! I need to carry a video camera with me. Not long ago me and a buddy were getting gas and this guy (black guy) about 25 was on a side road next to the service station and his car caught on fire when he stopped. He was wearing his pants down around the bottom of his ass and when he ran to the station looking for a fire extinguisher, his pants fell down to his ankles and he busted his butt in the parking lot. LOL. A guy in the car with him got out slowly and went to the trunk and pulled out a chain saw that must have had a 36" bar on it. He just took it and walked away slowly. LOL. That was about the funniest thing I have seen. Sorry his car was on fire but the way it happened we cried from laughing so hard. If he wore a belt and had his pants where they should be it wouldn't have been so funny.

I never did understand the low pants thing....does it serve a function or purpose? Might save time at the urinal but how do you move around without them falling?

That's just a trend the young blacks do. The city has even tried to fine them for it. If they only realize how stupid they look.

At least it was just gasoline. I put a patient on the dialysis machine the other day....10 minutes into the treatment one of the blood lines on the machine popped off.

But not to worry I didn't just stand there and look like duh. Hit the stop button on the machine and clamped the lines. He lost maybe 200 ml just that fast...those machines really pump the blood. He was okay...we did a stat hematocrit and he did not have a drop from his pre-treatment level.

I went to pump some gas recently. When I grabbed the nozzle I realize that someone had set the lever to full flow. Fortunately I detected it before I hit the start button.

Modern fuel pump nozzles are supposed to prevent inadvertently spewing gas if the nozzle is locked in the "open" position before the pump starts up. You should have to release the nozzle and squeeze the handle again to get fuel flowing. Of course, gas nozzles are mechanical devices and can fail.

25 years ago, I worked part time at a convenience store while my two oldest boys were little because my wife wasn't working outside the house. I saw more stupid things than you can imagine. It was common to see people get the fuel flowing and then sit inside their car or come into the store and the auto shutoff failed and they started pouring gas all over the ground. They would then bitch and moan about having to pay for the spillage, as if it wasn't their fault. These were the days before "pay at the pump", so I had to ring up every fuel purchase and had the privilege of talking with every customer. More than once, I had to jump the counter and race out to the pump islands to stop someone before they drove off with the nozzle still in their tank. The high point was the time I was robbed at gunpoint, but that's another story.
