Just FYI I still prefer the 22nd but they are doing a nationwide saddlesore event on the 29th of sept I guess there are special patches and/or $10 off the fees.

So what is this whole saddlesore ordeal? Can someone elaborate a little more. Sounds like a fun ride!

It is 1000 miles in 24 hours or less. Gotta have witnesses and receipts, but it is pretty cool to say you did it. Google iron butt association.

Does anybody have any starting and finishing witnesses lined up? Finding someone willing to be out at 4:00 in the morning or after midnight could be tough. The witnesses have to fill out forms and be available for contact by the Iron Butt Association to possibly answer questions about the ride.

I am using my wife on both instances unless it seems like I am going over 24 hours. However, with most smaller town gas stations it wouldn't be too hard if we all were respectful to get an attendant to sign off on it.

So, unfortunately guys, I'm going to have to bow out on this ride. I'd love to try it with you guys, but I just don't think I'm ready to attempt a ride like this. I am a little sad that I won't be going with you, but I'm going to have to build up my riding before I can try an Iron Butt ride. Good luck to you guys and I'll be anxious to see how it goes.

Well damn...ok, just so you know I am terrified of the 1000. Rode about 440 with the wife last weekend and IT HURT...but very doable.

Well shit, air force dental just rescheduled a root canal for me on the 21st. I should be fine but I don't want to risk canceling within 24 hours of the ride. I think I might have to bow out and due to schedules it looks like spring at earliest if I want to go to antlers ( and I do)

Wow. Planning this stuff is complicated. I have been holding off on an honest Iron Butt attempt until I can get my shovelhead sorted out. I figure is ain't worth bragging about unless it is done with a hardtail bike. But one on the 1500 bobber work still be fun. That route would be a good one. I have done a 750 mile run from OKC through STL to Terre Haute in a day a few times.

Just the same old same old. Trying get my shovelhead and Trail 70 running again. I really want to get that 70 showable for the OKC show and let my boy go nuts on it next spring. I will be smarter about buying the next little bike for my younger son.
