Ride to Antlers from Pittsburg, KS

Okay guys, here are a few options. I have avoided I-44 (toll road) however, the first option has tolls on the Indian Nation Turnpike. Without taking I-44 for any portion of this trip, I think this is likely the most direct route. B and C are successively longer and take more small roads.

A. 265 miles (5:10)
69 South out of Pittsburg
160 West to Oswego
59 South to Vinita
69 South to Indian Nation Turnpike (toll road)

B. 285 miles (5:45)
69 South out of Pittsburg
160 West to Oswego
59 South to Vinita
69 South to Muskogee
64 South to
2 to Antlers

C. 300 miles (6:15)
69 South out of Pittsubrg to Miami
125 South to
59 South to
10 West to Tahlequah
82 South to
100 West to
64 West to Warner
2 South to Antlers

Opinions? Alternatives?

Glenn, I sure hate to do this but Ruth and I will not be able to go to Antlers. Several things have come up and we will have to cancel. I have put it off as long as I could but am going to call today to cancel our room at the Budget Inn. If anyone has tried to get a room and was unsuccessful, I guess you can take our spot! We hope to join up with you all next time around though. Don

Sorry to hear that you can't make it Don. I was looking forward to riding down with you. I was really wanting to ride some this summer with you. It is hard to get a free weekend unless it is planned well in advance, maybe we can get together some other time. Ride safe, we'll meet another time.

Glenn and all

Not having been in this part of USA before, I am just along for the ride. I will say that I prefer US and State Highways over Interstates. Also - weather might play a role. Boy, by the looks of KS tonight, I glad I am in CO!!

Yeah, its been coming down pretty good today. I'm not all that familiar with the roads there either. Indian Nation Turnpike is 4 lanes like a US highway, not generally as busy as an interstate and I believe a 75mph speed limit. Hwy 69 is (at least mostly) 4 lane. Ann and I took this back home from Antlers last year and will probably do so again since we will still have a little over 120 miles back home. As for B and C, last year we rode the stretch from Wilburton to Antlers on route 2 - very nice.
I would lean towards B for the way down and A for the way back.

Hwy 10 on route C is a very senic ride, but may take up more time. I will try to meet somewhere around Tahlequah, Muskogee or along the 412 corridor. When you decide a route think about the timing to meet at one of these locations. Looks like Muskogee may be the best meeting location for routes A & B.

Jesse, that's good feedback. I turned on the terrain view in Google maps and Route C with 59/10 looks pretty good.

Griz, Bill, are you guys up for this?

If we left Pittsburg around 9 we could be in Tahlequa to meet Jesse around 12-12:15.
That would probably put us into Antlers around 5-5:30. As long as Jim (oldbikers) isn't trying to get the early bird special I don't think we'll be late for supper.

You don't have to worry about me but Jamie is coming with me and if you want something to eat you had better not be late or there may not be any thing left

We can always be on the road a little earlier than 9. Just have to get to breakfast a little earlier. :)

Glenn,

Sorry It has taken me so long to reply. I've been out of town at a conference. I think the route in "C" would be a great way to go down to Antlers, then plan on returning on Route "A" or "B". Just let me know when you think you would like to pull out of Pittsburg and Mike and I will be ready. Really looking forward to this trip!
