Thank You Paul. Yeah I constantly look for new ways to upgrade my bike, not much else to do in this frozen tundra. Except for daydreaming of a warmer time when I'm riding . I envy you guys with the warm weather year round. I got that bike with 15k miles on it now it has almost 21k miles on it. I rode till it got way too cold. 60k miles, man that's some good riding there. btw I wonder how many miles you can put on a bike before it needs a rebuild.

Thumbs Up

If you have a solid bike and take good care of the maintainence these bikes are easily good to 150K. Some have seen over 200,000. 100 to 125K should be a no brainer. Our 2000fi was actually my second bike after I decided to take up riding again. I started with a Honda Sabre. Great bike, but too lite to pull touring duty. Just my opinion, but I believe (and I think most here agree) that the 1500 Nomads are and were the absolute best bang for the buck, period. Especially a good used one. The 1600.s run a very close second. Lots of great bikes out there, but when you compare $$'s to reliability + all the things it will do really well, the Nomad is best value. Enjoy your ride. You should expect lots of good service from it. Check out the 2007 Nomad/loaded in the "for sale" section. This is my 1600. Just give you an idea what you can do with these bikes.

That is a very nice 1600 Paul. You did do all the mods on that bike. It looks like you left no space untouched that doesn't have a mod on it. What kind of Fairing is that? Do you have any pics of your Vic up? I looked at a 2013 Victory XCT Suede Nuclear Sunset, and almost bought it . Then I just couldn't make the deal when I already have a great looking bike in my garage. Gratz on your though. can't wait to see it.

Thank you, you humble me. The fairing is a Reckless. I got the four speaker cut out, but am not sure if I shouldn't have gone with the two, for larger speakers. You get more bass with the larger speakers, but once you get up past about 35 MPH it doesn't matter much. Bass goes away quickly. The set up I have has good bass, but not great. The mid and highs however are killer, and you can hear it pretty clearly even at 80. It is especially good when played using the usb and self recorded music on a flash drive. It was cheaper to put the fairing together myself even including having it painted, than to buy the one already set up. I did have to slot the holes on the mounting brakets a little to bring the fairing up so the running lights would clear. Mine are the deep bezel type. Shallow would be no problem.

Do what I did. Use search tempest to search Craigslist as far out as you want. I checked it for over a year almost every day till finding the deal I wanted.

Found a Fairing

Sorry if I keep going on this Thread or maybe I should create a new one. Idk...so, I found a Fairing and need any advice on it . It's a Tsukayu Fairing with a PHILIPS CEM2100 200W CD Player installed and 6X9 speakers for $809 dollars. any of you have Tsukayu fairings and what do you think of the quality of them? I also have spotlight covers on my lightbar and headlight will this cause a fitment problem?
(NVM if I had just searched I would have found alot of posts on them)

Welcome from Idaho. You said you taught yourself to ride on this bike and it's your first. I have the same bike with 85,000 on it. She's heavy and I highly recommend you take a rider training course. If you are pretty comfortable on it then look for a course you can do on your own bike. There's nothing more confidence inspiring then learning handling maneuvers on your own bike on a closed course.
