BrakeAway Products Cruise Control

Was wondering if anyone has installed a BrakeAway Products Motorcycle Cruise Control (Part # 5CP02) on their 1600 Nomads??? I am using a cramp buster, but it tends to get in the way, when doing slow turns.. I am considering installing this device on my Nomad, and wanted some insite from anyone who has had any experience with these units. The instructions state, easy to install, with many fine tuning adjustments....
Any info would be greatly appreciated...Pro"s and Con"s
John

By the way, I have a 2008 1600 Nomad....

Like bikerjohn, I have one of the crampbusters. I had the dealership install the BreakAway a couple of weeks ago. It took them about an hour. I just don't have all the tools in the right sizes laying around. They didn't tighten the friction lock quite enough so it slowed down with the vibration on the way home. I read the instructions real close and decided even I should be able to loosen two screws and use the allen wrench to tighten it just a bit. Took me 15 minutes before I got it right. [Yes, something the mechanics among you could have done in a couple of minutes. :) ]

Impressions so far. Level ground it holds the speed okay. Obviously, since it is a throttle lock rather than a true cruise control, when going up an incline the bike will slow down. Going downhill the bike will speed up. You can move the throttle a bit to compensate if desired. The mileage improved using the BreakAway, about 4 mpg, since I wasn't moving my hand around. It is kind of nice to be able to relax the right hand.

It engages and releases nicely. So far, no problems. I was thinking that I may just toss the crampbuster in the bags for use in the mountainous areas just to make it easier on my hand.

I am not a good mechanic so this advice is coming from the operator point of view. After the mechanics quit laughing :) at my review, I am sure they can give you the rest of the information so you can make an informed decision as to how you want to do it.

its is the market number one throttle lock. I'm ride into my second season with my Breakaway and I have nothing but good to say about it. it will not be a waste of purchase.

I'm heading into my third season with a breakaway and have never had to adjust it from day one. Love it.

Well I installed the BrakeAway Cruise control on my Nomad. I love it! But after I set it, I don't quite know what to do with my right hand.

Would recommend this Control for anyone out there. Took about an hour and a couple of fine adjustments after that. Well worth the money in my book!!

Man o man, that is a lot of money.... won't the $35 Vista Cruise Control work as well (not look as good for sure)? I'd rather put that money elsewhere on the bike.
