Monk: Riding with folks from other areas of the country is a great way to learn about those areas. I've done the Nationals in Custer SD (2009) and Maggie Valley NC (2011). This year I also did the North West and South Central regionals (by the way, Nightmare puts on a fabulous cookout at the South Central). In 2010 I did the South East Region (where I live) but 2 knee surgeries really curtailed my 2010 riding.
I am making 2012 plans for the South West Regional in Kanab UT, the North Central in Praire Du Cheing WI, the Norht East / East Canada combo in Wellsboro PA and of course the South East in Townsend TN.
I have met a lot of great people at those rallies and have felt welcome at everyone! I got to see a lot of our incredible country that I wouldn't have with out those "local riders" knowledge and I recomdend it to everyone!
My goal is to attend every reional at least once but because of overlaping dates it's going to require 3 years to get it done. Oh what a great problem to have!

The way I c it, you can ride with anyone anytime that you can make it to a rally or meeting. I have been to Cortez, CO for a rally and Antlers, OK x 2 and in all 3 cases neither group kicked me out. While NE (for Loafer, that is Nebraska) is in the North Central Group, I tend to ride more to the south and west so that is why I have made those rallies and will most likely keep doing so.

I did note that many of the 2012 rally are all within a week or two of each other. That makes it hard to attend more than one or so. I would have voted to spread them out more. Just saying.

Why would you have to change anything. Just ride with what people you want. Everyone on here would welcome someone from different regions.
Hell, as Ring said, we in the Northeast even put up with those rowdy Canadians EH.;)

CJ, I spell checked this post, it said nothing was wrong.
Putting up with us? So that's what you think. The only reason us normally shy and quiet Canadians seem rowdy is cause we have to drink lost of beer to understand your funny accents!

Does this mean someone from the SW Region will have a cigar pre-lit and my cocktail poured for me when I roll into Kanab next May...? My bike will probably need a good bath too...so Joel I would appreciate you blow drying it after Jared is done washing it....!

Sorry Kris, I don't blow anything. However, I can definately make sure I have plenty of alcohol on board so I will disinfect it when taking a leak on it.

I'm sure if I showed up, nobody would tell me to leave. There are some groups that make me feel unwelcome. Perhaps it would be different if I was there in person, perhaps not. I'm probably not going to plan a 2 week trip just to find out I "don't belong". There are plenty of other riding opportunities a bit closer to home (within a few hundred miles, anyway) I can attend.
