Stay cool SW guys!

You already know but the southwest is going to hit some (close to) record breaking high temps in the next week or so. I'm sure you guys know all the "keep cool" tricks, but be safe out there.

Marie and I are headed to Laughlin on Sunday where highs are expected to be 123!!! Least to say we are getting there early and leaving Laughlin Monday morning at 5am. Should be out of the desert by 9am.

The forecast for the Phoenix area shows 118° on Sunday. I will be spending Saturday night about 3 hours from home. I plan to leave early and try to be home while it's still under 105°.

I think we officially hit 113 degrees today. Riding home from work was like sitting in a blast furnace!

It was 119˚F on the way home from work today. It did flicker 120˚ once, but 119˚ steady. I completely soaked my torso with 2 liters of water and then put my jacket on when I left work. It helped. On the spots where my jeans got wet, it actually felt cool, but dried faster than you can say saddam hussein. Even the tops of my feet were hot and I wear Sidi On Road's. I did 27 miles. I can't imagine 200 in that.

Sitting in an air conditioned room in Cedar City, UT 190 miles from our home in the Las Vegas area. Kickstand up at 5 AM tomorrow, cross a time zone and we're home by 7 AM LV time before it hits 100.

One of my driver's that's domiciled in Vegas said the water in his pool was 94° Friday.

The solar pool heaters have a cooling cycle that circulates water through them at night to cool the water. The problem is that it's not getting much under 90 at night?

I had a pool at my previous house and this time of year in Phoenix they are like getting into a bathtub. Not very refreshing.

You can't get cold water out of the tap, either. The pipes are only buried about 12" below the surface so they preheat the water coming into the house. I could probably turn off my water heater and would be just fine, since my garage (where the water heater is located) gets to 120° everyday.

The pool wasn't bad today. I turned the aerator on and that helps too. If I had to guess the water temp got to the low to mid 90's. It was colder than my body temp, but not a lot.

As far as tap water, amen on that. I use the water tap in the fridge.

Same here. I never bothered putting ice in my water until I moved here.

We have water and ice stores here that sell purified drinking water and ice. We thought it was pretty funny at first, but the city water here is very hard and sometimes smells funny and you can't have enough ice in the desert.

By the way, it's still 104° at 9:00 PM!

The taste isn't the worst I have had, but it's hard as hell. It'll wreck faucet valves pretty good too.
