1 month + 1 Voyager + Garry = 10,000 miles
Picked up our new Voyager 1 month ago today and went for a ride. From Ontario to Chicago, along Rt 66, up to Toas, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Oatman, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, Yosemite Park, Crater Lake, west to the Pacific, north to BC and east across Canada on back roads. Tried to get a fillup at Corner Gas in Dog River but they were closed.
Great bike, very comfy and smooth. Rear tire was gone at 5800 miles, 40-45 mpg. A bit too noisy, a bit too hot but fantastic handling and suspension. Garry

Awesome! Mine bit hot too, maybe an email to dobeck? I see power commander have a module out for it already.
Was the mileage US gallons or Canadian (real) gallons? What tyre did you change rear for? As is said many times on here. Where the pics? Incredibly jealous, Trev |

Sounds like a great trip. Trev you need to ship yours over here and spend one of those incredibly long UK holidays touring the US.

Wow, sounds like a great break-in for the new Voyager. I agree Kris, the Voyager is very tempting.

The on-board display lies a little, it did read as high as 47 mpUSg but calculating it by hand I never got over 45. The bike displays 4 mileage modes: mpg US, mpg UK, L/100km, and kms/L. Converts to 53 mpg UK, or 5.2 L/100km or 18.6 km/L. I replaced the stock Bridgestone with a Dunlop E3 160/80 bias. Garry

Garry,
How much air are you running in the rear shocks? My concern is I don't have any extra leg length to spare. Elk Hunter |

10 psi in the rear shocks.
Seemed to work fine for the trip but I'd likely increase it to 30-40 if doing more 2-up. Garry

Sounds like a great trip.
The Voyager is growing on me. I sat on one at the dealer yesterday and spent some time admiring its many qualities. My hesitation (besides money) is....if I am going to get a bike with all the crap on it (fairing, stereo, trunk, etc) I might as well buy the Gold Wing since it has more power, smoother, and lasts forever (Voyager is good but not in same class as Gold Wing). Now the Wing is more money of course but I would probably buy a used one and save a few grand. 2 improvements Kawi should make....install a plug in for an MP3 player (if it had one I didn't find it?) and the little compartments on the fairing should be able to open without the key (make it lockable and not)...when I am on a long trip it is a hassle to be dragging out the key all the time...especially when you don't leave the bike out of eyesight.
