Trade In Value - $5240
Retail Value - $7590

This doesn't take into account for any accessories,
or really low mileage

...or the fact that it's a project, and needs paint and the fairing work completed.

It's not a project, it doesn't need paint and the only things left to do on the fairing is have the brackets painted.

Loafer --- I figured $10k was a starting point. Someone would offer less and we'd haggle. I might just drop the price down and try to eliminate the haggling. I DO have low miles (15k+) and a bunch of accessories so I think mid 8s is fair. You can always find a better deal SOMEWHERE but not necessarily today and/or not necessarily here. Doesn't really matter...ride it or sell it, I don't lose much.

Dropped the CL price down to $8700. No haggling room there. If it doesn't sell for that, it'll go on eBay with a BIN/reserve of $8700. It's worth more than that considering the mileage/accessories/condition. I'm good keeping it and just riding it for another year. It'll still be worth the same next year as this year.

I listed the prices because some were thinking the price too high.
As you say it has accessories and low miles, and that is always worth something.
Good vehicles are always hard to find, and people are willing to pay for them.
I recently talked to a rider from Ontario and he had a premeax (?) fairing and trunk
on his Nomad, $3200 worth. I wouldn't give that away with the bike.
You know what your ride is worth, so go for it. I wouldn't leave any haggling room out.

From my experience, retail is what a dealership is trying to sell the bike for. Street price is generaly between trade in and retail, but in our economy it can often times be found for just a few hundred more than trade in.

Accessories will generally get you $.10-$.20 for every $1 you've spent. So, if you've spent $2K, you can expect a $200-$400 increase in value.

Now this is not always the case, but I have bought and/or sold over 150 motorcycles and this tends to be the general rule.

Sorry. My bad, I thought your ad said the fairing needed paint.

Accessories don't add much to the price. My 2007 was pristine, and I probably couldn't have sold it privately for over $7500. On the other hand, I totaled it and the insurance company valued it at $10,200. They were giving me credit for the accessories I added. That's different than selling it outright.

I agree that some accessories don't add much like chrome or a backrest but I would think an entire fairing with a stereo and gauges would be worth something. It's more than an accessory as it's functional and improves the riding experience. I never really expected to sell it here anyway. Like I said, either it will get sold or I'll ride it (or park it in the garage and walk around it). Either way, I won't lose.

I'll trade ya!

We can meet in St. Louis, trade straight across, and ride back home.

Then you can sell or ride mine (now yours)... I'll ride yours (now mine).

One way to tell the current market's true value is to do the ebay auction with NO RESERVE - let it ride!

Just go on Ebay and click on completed auctions.
You can see what people ask and what sells for how much.

Done that. Good suggestion. There haven't been many set up just like mine. I feel mine's worth more than one with a Reckless type fairing as I have gauges, etc. It'll be on eBay (with a reserve) sometime today.

It is too high. Probably should have started out 7995 and work from there. Utah is right, 2007's can be had for under $7 all day. I sold mine for slightly less with 18K on it a couple years ago. It's the economy and people are price conscious spending cash. Forget what dealers ask, they are looking for the greater fool and you have to realize they got the bike for wholesale. Used sales generally have higher margins. So, if someone trades a 2007, they might get 5K, if that on the bike. The dealer turns around and prices it at 8500. If someone pays that, it was an easy 3500. The other thing is that you have a different customer buying a used bike at a dealer than CL. The person that buys from a dealer doesn't usually buy in cash and finances, so they don't really care as much about the bottom line price, they just want a bike and the dealer makes it easier with financing. If someone is buying with cash, they may be more prudent.

It might be too high but I won't sell it for less. I'll keep it first. No sweat.
