Help! How do I check fuel pressure?

I have a 03 Nomad 1500 Fi. I need to check the fuel pressure. Something is up and I off and on have a hard time starting the bike. My mech thinks it has to do with fuel pressure. Is there a way to pull the fault codes off the bike?
Or what other problems cold there be?

There is no pattern to when it will give me a hard time. Sometimes it's on a hill. Sometimes not. Sometimes when it's cold, sometimes when it's been ridden for a hundred miles.

Maybe there is a darn curse on this bike. I had soo many problems with it so far that I am slightly fed up.

There is a special tool to tap into the fuel line with a T and a gauge to read psi. Psi running should be apx 42 and off should leak down over a short time to 40 and hold that a rather long time in hours.

Don't you have a whining pump too?

And yes there is a way to get fault codes, but there os 52 items, along with details and the factory book is the best way to get them.

There is a on line manual here in the garage, but my system can't down load it. I have win 98 se still and a 56 k mo dumb.

There is no fix for these pumps so far as I know. They are expensive too.

TC was here the other day and gave me one from his 1600. I haven't had a spare second to remove the bubble wrap, but I will.

How long have you had the problem with hard starting? Could it be trash in the system or clogged fuel filter? Pump would be serious.

Is there an external fuel filter on an 03 FI bike ? I thought the fuel filter on FI bikes was integral with the fuel pump inside the tank and not serviceable ?

Well, my mech replaced the fuel filter ( we pulled off information on how to and which filter to use from gadget). It still has start problems. Mech thinks there is nothing wrong with the fuel pump. Everything else is going fine. Just the occasional starting problems and an occasional slurpy noise when starting up.

The problem with starting up has started a few weeks ago. Eventually it comes on.
