Vaquero / Voyager custom [front] turn signals

This isn't completely finished, but close enough to show you.

I plan on removing the stock turn signal light bar. Before I went to such drastic measures, I investigated buying/making LED replacement boards for the stock housings, but they weren't designed in a way that facilitates tinkering.
The lights I decided to install are LED replacements for BMW front fender side lights. My original plan was to install these on the saddlebag doors in place of the infamous Vaquero reflector, but plans changed again. And I'm happy with the [almost] finished result.
The lights I bought are amber LED with smoked lens and optional chrome trim ring. One picture shows the trim, but again, I changed my mind and left if off.
Just needs to be wired up.

Safety minded folks are probably asking, "what about more forward facing signals?!" Before removing the stock lights, I will find something to install toward the inside of the fairing, behind where the stock signals are.

Now I'm committed:

GREAT idea! Every time I see a pic of a VV, I always think that the OEM front signals look a bit out of place and that part of the fairing is screaming for just what you've done.

Really nice.
If your looking for something more forward looking you might consider installing Custom World International driving lamps in the fairing. The models I have on my Nomad feature a driving light and a turn signal light in the housing.
I am sure some mods to the brackets would be needed, but they would be one of a kind. Not the best photo, but you get the idea with the right side flashing.

If you're not planning on driving lights (in the stock location next to the headlight), why not put a light in each of those holes? It would be stealth but still be able to be seen.

I am planning to put driving lights there, just savin' up some cash. My plan for the headlight and driving light is to adapt the H-D LED lights with black "reflector" instead of the traditional silver.

I've lightly inspected the HD headlight and think I can make it work . . . somehow. But I've never compared the driving lights for the possibility they would install in the brackets included in Vaquero kit.

In order to do the whole thing, I would have to buy the Vaquero kit (for brackets and wires), the HD LED lights, and any peripherals to adapt as needed. The price tag is over $1000 for the 3 HD lights alone. Although, the headlight can be bought separate ($500). I will do something, but I still will have to keep my stash of quarters away from my wife until I get there. ;)

If I decide LED is completely unattainable and/or cost prohibitive, this type product would still make for a cool look. I would use the black film, but at that point it, probably the driving lights only, not the main headlight.

I seen some nice 3 LED lights on e-bay that you could stick inside your vents or the inside of your lowers

The flush mount turn signals are awesome looking! I like them a LOT!

I've installed them on sportbikes before, but never thought about installing them on a cruiser. Great idea!

I originally got the idea from Kane Friesen's custom Vaquero at the National Rally @ Maggie Valley. You can see Kane's in the pic attached. I think his have been painted over, rather than a traditional smoke lens.
He used ZX14 signals I believe. Then I spotted the BMW style in a parking lot and went for that!

For front facing turn signals, what about a small LED array under the fairing directly behind where the stockers are? They'd only be visable from the front but you already have the sides covered. If the housing was black and small enough, they'd be all but invisible unless they were on/flashing.

So far that's the plan, or mirrors with signals. Still looking, still dreaming ;0)

I wish these mirrors had signals in them. (the black ones)

I'm not much for wild looking mirrors but I'd rock those.
