Indian Motorcycles.
Today I stopped by the local Indian Motorcycle Dealer.
He had 15 bikes on his floor. Over half had "sold" signs on them. If you have not seen one of the Indian bikes, they are very "retro" looking and very expensive. The lowest price one was 29K with many going for 39K. We were told that each bike is assembled from scratch to 100% by the same machinist. For you fans on the color black, they have a "Black Indian" model with most of the chrome parts in black. However, it they do tell you that the color does slow it down If I win the lottery, I would own an Indian - in any color but black.

I have always liked the look of the old Indians... and you are right, they have definitely captured to retro-look...
Quite a history behind the original company... Recently some original design-drawings were found for the early Indians... as you can imagine... they are worth a few coins themselves to say the least. I believe they are being held in a museum -- as they should.

Victory bought Indian so you should see lower prices and more dependability. One of our local dealers used to carry them and advised they had lots of problems with them.

I don't know how anyone justifies paying that much for a motorcycle when most used Nomads go for nearly 1/10 the cost. But I really like the looks of Indian bikes.

Ive always liked the look of the Indian Chief model, one of my favorites. Up until recently you could still buy one of the Gilroy Indian leftovers. They are quite expensive and the average Joe won't be buying one, but Indian said that they would cater to the indiscriminate buyer, and I guess they do, or did. Im sure that part of the reason that Polaris bought them, was that there wasn't quite enough of those buyers lining up.

Your post prompted me to go to the Indian website to look at their models. They have a brand new model called the "Chief Blackhawk." The white one is really sharp looking, and there is a black one, too. It has a very small fairing and hard bags, and looks pretty cool. I have no idea what the price is, but it's something different and new.

Indian bikes have been around a long time. Glad to see they are back but the price is a tad expensive for me.
