Motorcycle Cargo Trailer
After the Eastern Rally, thinking about getting a trailer for the stuff I wanted to bring. Anyone have any experience with this trailer? Looks like a good price:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PIGGY...spagenameZWDVW I know there are home made options but they don't interest me. Any other suggestions appreciated. Thanks again... Login or Register to Remove Ads |

This actually looks like a gussied up version of the typical home made version as shown on Gadget's site.

Motorcycle Cargo Trailer
Yesterday afternoon at the motel in Salt Lake City, my son and I were leaving to go meet a friend for dinner. Pulling into the parking lot were 5 or 6 Goldwings with Quebec tags, all pulling trailers. I saw several on the road today. I'm going to look into getting one.

Gadjet's is better. All that is, is a cut down frame from a Harbor freight kit, and it has a clone of the Sear's 18cu ft car top carrier just like mine. I am willing to bet it is painted black with Krylon for plastic paint and buffed out.
The wheels are chromed which is common even in J C Whitney for trailers. It has a alloy or steel bent bumper rail any fool with a conduit bender can make up. The fenders are for boats and probably plastic, but also in catalogs for trailers. At most it is worth 350 bucks. The topper hold open stays are nice, but anyone can make them too. The cooler box is a common item in any RV supply house, but Il'd say that one is a nicer home built anyway. The U bolts and lights are a dead ringer for the HF kit.. I smell smoke. it is well done, but anyone with a little skill and some time can do it for less than I stated. I towed a trailer like that, not so nicely made up, but time was limited, from NH to Cadd's house in Cal, and from Cadd's to Fla,to Arkansas, where I hit a wall called winter. There I bought a conversion van and a trailer for the bike and the bike's trailer, so I only rode the bike with the trailer itself for 15,000 miles in one little ride. This is Cadd writting Cal on it.. over all rig

Doc, We cross posted.. Nope MPG's are nearly the same. With my wife 'we tip the scales dressed at 300 pounds. The trailer over all was 300 pounds loaded.
Stock I got 36/38 all the way to Cal, no matter what I did and or how high I went. Note that was my 1500. Cadd did his 'magic' and instantly I got 44/46 MPGs all the way back, untill the bike was stolen. No one expected the increase in MPG's, just the preformance..

I made a trailer similar to that one just like the others folks here have. The pull great and really dont change the mpg's. Very easy to make yourself and you can do it just like that one on ebay for less than 350.00. i get some pics of mine when its light out.

I have a shell for one in the garage that I'm going to make into a cargo trailer. I'm going to ask the neighbor if he can help with the mods on the HF trailer.

:)I will be the first to admit that the one I bought is way more pricey than the one you were looking at on eBay, but that said, I bought mine from Motorvation at www.motorvation.com. I also have a few links to other trailer vendors on my website as well as a list of every "known" MC trailer vendor. ::)

Now I don't want to do that. Guess a visit to the dealer is in order. If the warranty isn't an issue, maybe he can get a hitch, probably at an inflated price. I'll keep you posted... Joe |

I bought a Kawasaki because I didn't want to need a warranty. Never used it once either.

All bike makers say this... It won't stand up in court... Of course the makers know someome will put a hitch on and then try to tow a trailer that weighs over 2 tons, and will have a backhoe on it.
Or maybe they know stopping won't be as quick, and it isn't! So far I have never seen any OEM trailer hitch for any bike. There are several for the Nomads in both 1500 and 1600 flavors.. Asking a dealer isn't going to work out so well...

dealers don't stock that type stuff for Nomads. If you had a Wing, maybe.
