And it bites the big hairy one.

As you know I'm in the midst of an engine/transmission rebuild.

If you ever do this make sure, I repeat make damn sure you install the crank correctly.

It WILL go in either direction.

Ask me how I know.

Now the jugs have to come back off and split the cases again.

Oh well, practice, practice, practice.

Ouch...I hate it when that happens. Glad you're making progress on getting everything right again.

At least it should go faster the second time you do it. Always does for me. :)

Don't ask how many times Ive done similar things. Like SSStan said, it goes faster the second and third time around.

Would 5 speeds in reverse be so bad?

There....but for the grace of God, go I. Exactly why I leave this stuff to the experts. Now....if you ever want to catch a large chinook salmon in a coastal river in the fall.....call me... ;)

Reminds me of a prank my Pop pulled on me once. I had just torqued the last head bolt on my latest hot rod small block Chevy engine. I turned from the engine on the stand to find Pop standing there with a compression ring in his hand and a dumbfounded look on his face. After I finished weaving a tapestry of profanity that coated the roof of our farm shop. Pop in his best Arkansas Ozark drawl said. "Easy boy, it's jus an ol ring ya left cheer on the bench." I almost pooped myself and he laughed until he cried. I really miss the old joker.

My old man pulled a gag like that on me. We had been working on his last sail boat. He passed me a box and said here this is for you. ( i took it as a gift)

I opened the box to find a cotton cord covered in yellow pasty grease. I said what's this for Dad? He said are ya daft? its the stuffin for the stuffin box, get to it. :'(
