Calling Charlie (Ballast)

Hi Charlie,

I know you bought a Day Long Russell seat and wanted to ask a couple questions.

I am thinking about ordering just the rider portion of the seat and keeping my passenger seat, Grasshopper backrest, and OEM sissy bar/pad.

Here goes;

Do you still like it?

Did you get the seat rain covers? Worth it?

Did you get leather or vinyl?

Did you have a backrest before you got the DLR? What brand? Do you think it would still fit if you still had the OEM passenger seat?

Since DLR uses the OEM pan I am wondering (hoping) that I can still use the Grasshopper backrest.

Do you still have your OEM seat or did they use it?

The gal at DLR said she will send me some color samples so I can match the rider color to OEM passenger but if you have any input on how well they match it would be helpful.

Thanks
Greg

Did you get the seat rain covers? Worth it? yes. I think so because I got the leather.

Did you get leather or vinyl? Leather

Did you have a backrest before you got the DLR? What brand? Do you think it would still fit if you still had the OEM passenger seat? Had the mustang seat with back rest. I don't think DLR will work with OEM seat. They should be able to tell you.

Since DLR uses the OEM pan I am wondering (hoping) that I can still use the Grasshopper backrest.

Do you still have your OEM seat or did they use it? They used the OEM seats. They do not provied pans.

The gal at DLR said she will send me some color samples so I can match the rider color to OEM passenger but if you have any input on how well they match it would be helpful. I never got samples. I just went with black. In my pic you can see my OEM passenger back rest. Looks like a match.

I went all leather with the fat boy extra seat suspension, back rest and raincover. I can send more pictures this weekend if you want.

Thanks
Greg

You're welcome

That helps me a great deal. No need for more pics but thanks for the offer.

They did tell me the DLR rider seat will work with the OEM passenger seat but they couldn't tell me if the Grasshopper backrest would still work. If not I can always buy their backrest at a later date.

I owe you a tall cold one.

Thanks
Greg

Their backrest mounts into the passenger seat so it will only work with their seat mod. Probably.

After thinking about it I think I will be fine becasue DLR says their seat will be compatible with the OEM passenger seat so I know I can stick the Grasshopper on first then mount the DLR. I may not be able to remove the Grasshopper without removing the DLR first but that is not a big deal because I rarely remove the Grasshopper anyhow.

Thanks
Again
