Grin Pulled the trigger - comfort is in production

Greetings All,

Pulled the trigger an ordered myself a Russell Day-Long.

After last years Route 66 trip, the hips and body told me they wanted a change.

With next year being the New England tour, figured it had better get ordered now.

Nothing fancy, half moon pattern, leather on top with vinyl sides. Now I need to find a passenger backrest...

Ride safe,
Smokier

Youll love it, they make an incredible difference in comfort. Ive ridden for up to twelve hour days with no discomfort at all.

You will like it - Right after you get used to the fact that you don't touch the ground like you used to.... While they are taller the added comfort is worth it. My Daylong seat is the reason I have jacked my seat up and put 3 different Voyagers under my Daylong.

Good Choice

The daylong makes a huge difference on long rides or trips that have you in the saddle for several days in a row.

I have had great comfort success for long trips on my now very broken in Corbin with driver backrest. Well worth every dime.

?? for who ?? You still have 2 bikes. Or are you taking one bike on the New England trip? If one bike have you seen these? Getting one for the wife next year after X-mas. bolting it to the KQR backrest. She only rides in 75-78f , so easy on easy off.

And Congratulations on the new seat, Still a dream for me.

Hey smokier. What is your production date? They get pretty backed up this time of year. Just wondering if it was in the works yet. I had them add their drivers backrest. Danggit boy it's sweet! At a very broke down age of 56 I can ride sun up to sun down and still good to go.

I just called Corbin yesterday and asked that. Was told it was pretty much stock position. She did say their seat height was @28 inches.

You can have them adjust it some, but won't guarantee the fit.. But if it doesn't fit you you have to pay to have it adjusted.

Now if you do the ride in, they will custom fit it to you.

Russell Daylong will work with you shipping it and getting a more custom fit.

The Cobin is a better looking seat IMO. But price is about the same.

Mine goes into RDL January 18th.

Hi , does anybody know if a corbin seat sits you back or forward or up or down than the factory seat?

I just bought a used Corbin seat. I almost and may have to pull my bars back some to get the reach I had with the Mustang. Never moved my bars from the stock seat to the Mustang. So I have to say you sit back further and Lower. I now have all 3 of the 4 seats ( Not the Russel Daylong). It would be nice to ride and try the (new to me) Corbin out. FREEKING SNOW is holding me back. And it had been winterized with Mink oil, So I slide all over the place. Damn it Jim

I am waiting to ride lots and try them out to see what I stay with. I do like the options I have, just ties up some big money for me right now. Saving the shipping box and will have one for sale this coming Spring. I must say the Corbin is a very nice looking seat. The Green piping is like frosting on the cake though.
Long Story short, If your in Minneapolis this spring and you want to try a seat, Go to Chicago. Or hit me up with a post, and we can swap out for a test ride.

WTF Dang, started the thread and then missed posts to me. Sorry guys!

Sorry guys! Thanks for the responses.

hlknvlcn60 - Had a Corbin with a backrest and rode it for a few thousand miles. HATED IT. Gave it to the bride and she LOVED IT. She L-O-V-E-D IT!. She got a new ride and the Corbin moved on to a new home.

ChuckA, The production date was Oct 31st. The seat has arrived and is a big beautiful thing. It feels good, however, have ZERO miles on it. MBARR and I are in the same basic position, Mother Nature is keeping us from testing our new saddles.

tomrtrd Having had a MUSTANG, CORBIN, STOCK and now an untested RDL. I can tell you this. The Corbin is lower, thinner and further back than the stock. The Mustang is higher, thicker and further forward than stock. The Russel is higher than stock, but about the same distance back. <?> Again the RDL is untested, so the shoulders have not had a chance to confirm.

Will be swapping bars and potentially risers this winter. So the RDL on an otherwise stock setup for comparison may never happen. Well, MBarr and I may get a ride in together. We could switch seats and bikes for that test I guess...

Ride safe,
Smokier

Sounds like a plan,
Looking at 40f today I may just slide around on the new seat today some. Need to warm it up to change the oil anyway.

Headed for 45f according to the weather app. Momma and I are thinking of skiing this morning and then catching the 12 mile loop around 2pm. Not often around here you can say you skied and motorcycled in the same day...
She will get to ride the new scoot on familiar roads, I'll get to try out the RDL...

Ride safe,
Smokier
