Ive put about 50 miles on mine so far, and it feels a lot different. I think it will make a big difference on the longer rides later on. One thing I find that I will have to get used to is holding the bike up while standing still. I'm 6,2" and I feel bowlegged now, and almost on my toes because of the much wider seat.

Received my seat several months back but the weather is still too dirty to get the FJR out. The seat looks fantastic, matched perfect as per my request. My initial thought is that I may be sitting too close to the tank, the piece behind the saddle seems a tad too thick. I'm hoping I'm wrong and need to get out for my first big spring ride.

I finally got to take a few rides on my new seat and I think I am going to love it. My wife and I rode 120 miles on Saturday and we both commented on how we never moved around due to discomfort. We hope to have a lot more happy miles and we think this was money very well spent. Also put risers on for me and raised her backrest up a ways. I am currently working on adjustments for the detachable armrests I built to go on her backrest extensions. Hope to have pictures soon. Anyway, we are very happy with the seat. Thanks go to Mike for all the hard work on getting the group buy set up and to many of you for the great ideas and even some of the parts. Great group of people here.

Well I got my adjusted seat back and its still not right. I guess I am part of the 1% that has a bit of a unique butt.
I had a Russell on my vstar and loved it!

I will be calling RDL to make arrangements for a 2nd adjustment.

That seat will make you quit shopping bikes. I know mine did.

rdl seat

Thanks Mike, I got my first good ride last Sunday. About 250 miles, felt as good when I was done as when I started. They nailed it first try for me.
Thank You for your efforts. Dave

Ring when I ordered my RDL I told them long distance riding was not as big a concern for me as still being able to flat foot the bike and to stop the complaining from the passenger seat. So I asked them to cut the wings back a little and pay extra attension to the passenger seat. It worked! Not sure exactly what they did as I have no comparison but the wife is very happy and I can still flat foot the bike. I don't even notice having to slide forward when stopped.

Getting ready to bust mine out on a 3500 mile jaunt. This will be it's first real test. Only been out about 300 miles in a single trip so far. Should I toss the Airhawk R in the top box or ride with confidence without it??

The most I have been able to put on mine so far is just about 100 miles. Bit it's looking good: in that 100 miles I never noticed my ass even once. Also I haven't noticed any issue flatfooting the bike, either.

So far I'm loving it. Thanks, Mike!

rdl seat

Mike, I read some where, either a note in the box with the seat or on the RDL website not to use Airhawks or other covers. My old seat and Airhawk were not near as comfortable as my new RDL. The Airhawk was a little cooler though. Thanks, Dave

I see no reason not to use an Airhawk with the RDL if you want to other than it kind of negates the effects of the RDL. If the RDL is not working for you then send it back ?

I was just messing around. No plans to use my old Airhawk on the trip. The seat is very comfortable. I am going to offer it up to one of the guys going on the trip though. He's doing 3500 miles on a Harley Heritage. He's gonna need every advantage he can get his hands on!

I had an Airhawk on my Voyager prior to sending my seats to RDL. The Airhawk does alleviate some of the discomfort of sitting for extended periods. I also take my Airhawk on long flights, it helps.
