I agree that it's not the most attractive seat I've ever seen. There's a pretty good picture of what looks like a 2006 Nomad on RDL's site that should offer a pretty good example of what your build will look like. The seat is all black, so you would have to use your imagination on the color difference.

crazy Complainers :

Those of you who are geographically blessed with the ability to ride between late November and early April are spoiled rotten .
I submit that Russel should withhold your seats 'till spring on principal .

HAHAHAHAHA MERRY CHRISTMAS !

( I still want MY Russel seat asap .... )

Got my seat back from Russell on Monday. I cant ride it because yesterday it was -2. Got it on the bike and it seems like it will be very comfortable. I only have one small problem, I can barely reach the ground now. I was able to just flatfoot before but now I can barely flatfoot if I stand all the way up. If I stay sitting on the seat and scoot ahead I can reach tiptoed. How many of you normally ride this way and how hard is it? I know the height is needed to build in all of the comfort, I just dont want to feel unsafe at stops especially with my wife along. I did not get pictures yet because my gas tank is at the body shop for a touch up. I will also have to move the passenger backrest up as it no longer fits with this seat. I had Russell move the passenger back as far as possible so I was planning on this, not their fault. I have to say the seat is very high quality and feels very nice to sit on as long as the height is something I can get used to. Anyone else have to deal with the height issue?

This was posted by fammdw when he got his seat back :

"One thing I did notice is the wings give the impression that the seat is higher - simply by their location. I noticed this on the FJR as well. When you sit back in the seat, you are pretty much in the stock height position. When you come to a stop, the wings keep your legs from dropping straight down the side of the bike and gives you the illusion of being and inch or so higher. You have to slide forward slightly past the wings to put your feet down flat (or at the angle you are normally used to, based on you height). It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it's second nature".

Sent mine off today via Canada Post for a build date of January 16. Total cost from Newmarket Ontario was $68 + $4 insurance. Huge thanks to Mike for all the initiative and work that he put into making this group buy happen. Now, if he could just do something about the weather!

I shipped mine away on New Years eve, $57.25 postage. I had wanted to ship it from Buffalo, but I never got a chance to get there in time.

My seats were there a month early. I have the same build date as you Ringadingh, Jan 15th.

I received my seat today. It looks much more comfortable than I had expected.

All I need now is a not so cold day to ride.

Interesting: my "build date" was supposedly 12/19, but I got a call today (1/4) saying they are just starting the job. With over a foot of snow down hereabouts the delay is no hassle, but I thought others might be similarly delayed, and interested in knowing it.

I think some people sent their seat in before they even received a build date from RDL. If RDL started building them as they received them that may have put them behind on other customer seats that were sent in when they were told to do so.

I don't know that RDL has done this, but it could possibly offer an explanation for the delay. If I were in charge out there and I received a seat before I even sent out a build date, that seat would be the last one I would work on after all other orders were filled.

Just sayin'...

Actually , Kim told me to send my seat asap , even though my build date is not till Jan 15 , that she would prefer to store it , than to wait for it .

I spoke with her after my I recieved my build date and ask if it was a problem if they recieved my seat a little early.
She told me to go ahead and send it, that they had plenty of room.

I checked my tracking number on UPS's web site to see if it had made it.
It said that it wasn't delivered because no one was there to receive it.
Concerned I call Russell and got a recording saying that they were closed the last 10+ days of the year.
So if they got a little behind they couldn't get to it till January.
It did get delivered on Jan. 2nd.
