Pull to the right for sirens and lights. Thanks.
A funny video by the Tuscaloosa FD highlights a deadly serious problem. The same folks who dont see motorcycles because they are DWHUA (Driving With Head Up A$$) dont see, hear, or properly yield right of way to responding emergency vehicles.

And in Washington it is now required that you slow down and move to the left if emergency vehicles are on the right shoulder. This includes work crews. Friend of mine got a $400 ticket.

Vermont started a slow down move to the left for emer. vehicles stopped on the right. And has always asked drivers to pull to the right for emer. vehicles on the move.

I can't believe the Tuscaloosa FD came up with that one. Funny one. It is amazing how many dummies are out there and just keep going. Alabama also has the law to move to the left if police or emergency vehicles are on the right shoulder. They will ticket you for not moving over.

Georgia has the "move left or slow down below the speed limit if unable to move left" law too now.

Most states have move left slow down lights for stopped emergency vehicles now, slow and pull right has been around as long as I can remember and I've been driving some 42 years now.

Oh yeah I've seen just about everything possible, but the biggest offenders jam their brakes in a panic. They forget that a 60,000+ pound fire apparatus cant stop on a dime. That is of course IF they get off the phone or hear us over their radio. :(" title="" border="0"/> |

In forty years of driving I have always heard you pull to the right and slow or stop. Moving to the left if the right hand shoulder is full of cars that might disgorge people into the roadway has also been a policy, if not a law. I have even been known to pull across a red light to make room for an emergency vehicle to get by crowded intersections. (Best make sure the intersection has stopped for the emergency vehicle first though .
