Long weekend ride in WA

Hello NorthWest Group,

We have a long weekend coming up [May 16 -18] in BC. My better half and I plan to take a ride to Anacortes. Can anyone recommend a decent motel/hotel in that area.

Cheers,

Elvis

p.s. my wife insured her bike yesterday and we did our first duo ride of the season:

I wish I could, but I have never stayed up there. If the weather is at all nice....have someone direct you to the viewpoint up on Mt. Erie. It is only a few miles out of Anacortes and is a breathtaking view of northern Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.

In fact if you PM me your email address....I can send you a google map right to it. Well worth the time! If the weather is REALLY good....the wife and I could ride up there and meet you guys for dinner or something on Saturday...just a thought!

So when you cross the border does the border patrol announce that "Elvis has left the country." ??

I have not stayed in Anacortes...but you will have lots of options in Burlington nearby if needed.

I think there is a huge casino motel right off 1-5 along that stretch if that is your cup of tea.

Have a great ride!

I live in Burlington (about 20 miles fm Anacortes) but I don't know of any motels that I'd recommend (I've never stayed in any). Most of the motels should be pretty good as Anacortes is a tourist destination. If you need a local tour guide give me a yell, I could show you around Saturday or Sunday.

Thanks guys. Actually I like to give that casino motel a try but my wife is very particular about where we stay even it's for a nite.

We're both looking forward to this get-a-way.

BTW, we ordered bag liners for the Nomad last night and they've already shipped the order today. http://www.tlcproducts.com/servlet/Detail?no=358. Because the parcel has to go through the Canadian Customs, I don't expect it to arrive this week but it'd be nice to have the liners for this weekend :)

Will update you about the trip and the bag liners.

Cheers,

E.

Here is a link to the Skagit Hotel/Casino. Probably the nicest place up there....I have stayed there.... ! It is just a tad off of I-5 a few miles north of HWY 20....

Had a great time last Saturday: Hit the road at 5:30 AM, breakfast at Old Fairhaven, Bellingham, saw the Corvette show in Anacortes, waterfront festival in Coupeville, late lunch at Langley, WA, flew down I-5 and after 525 km [325 miles], got home around 10 PM.

That's a good ride....I basically did the same thing Sunday with two other bikes. We hit Ft. Casey, Deception Pass, Mt. Erie, then Anacortes for a late lunch at the Brown Lantern Ale House! Good stuff.... !!

Elvis...Appropriately the "Hers" looks like it holds more than the "his". You will love them everytime it is time to load or unload...saves time!
