CO kids trade pen for a car

clickhere

Some kids in a church youth group had an activity to cure their boredom that was a scavenger hunt where they start out with a pen, and go door to door trying to trade if for something bigger or better.

They spit up into more than one group and it was a contest of sorts.

One of the groups came back with a running car. The story details what got traded for what, but in the end they were trading a BBQ for the car.

If you asked me if kids going door to door could start with a pen, and trade it up to a car, I would have never believed it.

That is pretty incredible. It just goes to show that luck is important in life, but with ambition and perserverence you can really get somewhere. It's something I really wish I'd understood when I was their age.

Some kids came door to door playing "bigger or better" They gave me a Santa cookie jar and I gave them a yard chair. It must have been too heavy for them to carry because I saw it the next day down the street at the bus stop

You better be careful Dan, you might end up with a Harley. Then you would have to figure out how to get it home!

This is like the guy that started out with a really big novelty paper clip and traded and traded and ended up owning a house a few years back. I think it was on Craigslist or eBay or something.

I thought that paperclip guy was just an urban legend.

Yes, Alice Cooperstown is a sports/rock n roll themed restaurant in downtown PHX, near Chase Field and US Airways Center. I'm ashamed to say I've never eaten there. I've been in it a couple of times, looking at the memorabilia.

They used to have a 24" long hot dog on the menu named "The Big Unit", after Randy Johnson. I don't know if they still have it or not.

The kids in our youthgroup play "bigger and better". One kid came home with an aluminum 12' rowboat in really good shape.
