I took a ride yesterday and my boards were down. In my mind it ment that Chuck's spirit was riding along.
Everyone has a little different take on the custom but I like this one the best.
Wow! This thought gave me chills, which is usually a good thing to me. The thought of bringing the fallen rider along with you.

Thanks for comments and the links.

My boards have been down as well.

Pegs Down\Boards Down?

I've been riding with my boards down a lot lately.... Along with all that has been said, I also like to use it for my Guardian Angel!! That would be my Mom.... And of course, I'm sure Chuckster also.... Reason why is, I've been doing a lot of night riding back to my house from work. It's about 90miles... down some dark, fast, country roads... I figure I can use ALLLLLL the help I can get, so I ask them to watch over me and help me get home safely. So far... in death, as it life, they've NEVER let me down!!

Be safe riding back home at night, Jussmatt. Keep the brights on and be alert for any animals.

I feel I need to add this also: Those pegs/boards fold up for a reason.

"Pegs down" is a ceremonial gesture. It's not something to do on a regular or extended basis. It increases danger to the rider, and anyone who's ever caught one in the back of the leg will know why.

To present another analogy it's akin to police officers and firefighters wearing a black band across their badge.

Thanks Bud!! I use the high beams often!!! So far, I've just scared an armadillo to death (I was equally scared I might add) and the death of a flying "UFO"... not sure what it was, but it made a good "THUMP" into my windshield!
