The 1400 intruder is a great bike and that one looks to be well equipped.
Back in 2001 I rode mine from Calgary to Whitehorse, on to Skagway, through the BC interior and back home in 2 weeks.

Great! I had one in the form of an S83 boulevard. Decent power and great handling as well.

As some of you know over a year ago I got Sugar Diabetes and along with that came a disease that is set off by the Diabetes in my legs and I have lost mussel mass in my legs. I could no longer hold up the roughly 900 lb Vulcan. I have in my life only had really heavy cruiser type bikes as that is what my mind set always said was a real bike.

So a great friend of mine lent me his 920 Yamaha Virago for a couple weeks. It was funny the first time I tried to start out on this bike I wondered where the bike was underneath the seat of my pants it was so light. It was wonderful I had a blast on this bike and so the start of my search began.

I finally found a 2002 Susuki Intruder 1400 which weighs in at 453 lbs. Your not going to believe this it only had 5000 kms on the bike. That is right it was practically brand new out of the box. He had quite a few extra's on the bike rear rack, saddle bags, windshield, and so on. It was mint and the price was right as he lived in a remote location and was getting very few calls on the bike. So a couple weeks ago I became the owner of this bike.

So guys I back might not be the heavy weight bike I am used to but I am riding again and wow it is fun to be on two wheels again. I love it.

It has been a journey for sure.Attachment 14937
So you got the Sugar D.

I have it also. I'm 62 now. It hit me when I was 36.

Keep one thing in mind. When you talk to the doctors about this disease, a good majority of them are LAZY.

OH: you have this medical problem, well this is the reason you have weakness or pain in your legs or feet.

They just assume.

They don't do the necessary mental gymnastics to get you the proper help.

So you have leg weakness, or tingling in your feet.

Did they ever mention your low back? Did they do a nerve conduction study to confirm the nerve health.

I know I'm ranting, but I have been down this road.

My legs and feet hurt like no end some times. Comes and goes.

You have nephropathy.

Like HELL I do. I have Spinal Stenosis. and it can give the same symptoms as nephropathy.

So get the correct test done.

A nerve conduction study.

And CHUCK, not so sure about #10. I think it was the Russian government. The actual people are very nice though.

I hear what you are saying. This getting old thing, it just not fun sometimes.

I don't pray for an easy life.

I pray for the strength to get through it.

Sometimes a little tequila helps with the spasms in the evening.

I am getting the studies done in January I go for the nerve study. Heck it is not the diabetes that beats me down the diabetes is controlled in me very well. It causes me no problem.

Put it this way you load a gun with a bullet and shoot it and it kills someone. The gun actually did not kill you it was the dam bullet. It is this way with the nerves in my legs the diabetes set it off that the end of the talk on diabetes for me. It is all in the legs and the feet the pain but I am learning to push past that. If you watch a movie I am a great boxing fan on Vinny Paz who beat Durran not once but twice if he can push past what he had to go through after his accident I can push past this pain and I am slowly doing it being able to try and forget about pain and work past it I have to.

All I know is I am back and on two wheels and happy about that. It is not my Nomad and I miss that bike it was awesome but it is two wheels and I will make it mine by spring.

Never say never I starting to learn that.

I too have diabetes and suffer from neuropathy in my legs and feet......the pain can be alleviated somewhat by taking vitamin B12 tablets. Use the dissolving type and let them dissolve under your tongue (better absorption into the blood stream). Use the largest dosage you can buy OTC.

I was missing my 2007 Nomad this morning so thought I'd check out the site to see how everyone's doing. I too sold my Nomad because it outgrew me as I aged and required knee replacements, much easier to fix than what you have sadly encountered. A close friend who rides nationwide now owns my beauty and loves it.

A great deal on an ultra low miles 2005 Indian Scout enabled me to keep on riding. With that said, a new knee has helped and I find myself l checking out Craigslist to see what Nomads are going for these days.

Congratulations on your find, the best to you and may you put many miles on your Suzuki.

Duffy, I too was just diagnosed with that. Sometimes my feet are very painful, a common problem with diabetes. Since my blood work is very good the doc told me to start taking the vitamin B12.

Hey mbarr10. Saw a couple of Goldwings a few days ago. Still see the odd one picking the good days to ride.
