That was my odometer reading when I traded my Voyager for a new Yamaha this week. 16 years and well over a million kms of Vulcan riding and in my best Johnny Cash voice 'I've been everywhere , man'.
They were, and still are, really good motorcycles. I've been hoping Kawasaki would update the lineup, and they still may, but I jumped ship to get ride modes, traction control, quick shifter, TFT dash, and 405 lbs less weight.
Ride on........

Tracer 900GT maybe? Sorry to see you leave the brand Garry, but I can understand why. A few more up-to-date amenities would be very welcome after 10 years of same / same. Ride on indeed....

She still rides but this summer we've been 2-up on the tenere most of the of the time. I have ordered a large top box with backrest that should fit both bikes and see which one she prefers. Tenere suspension is worlds better than the Voyager and we've been doing a lot of gravel road riding so it will stay.
I think the GT will be my weekend hotrod and Tenere my longhaul tourer but time will tell.

Ha. Funny story from Palmerston motors. He walked around the Voyager and snapped some photos including the odometer and said he'd get back to me next day. And he did with a trade in allowance of $7500! Well I rushed back to sign the papers but discovered he had missed one digit from the odometer..... I pointed out his little mistake and he rescinded his offer and didn't want the trade at all. We had a good laugh and I continued shopping.
I got a good deal at Brian's in Hensall and he resold the Voyager in 2 days. That bike is taking the new owner on a month long tour to Nova Scotia. No rest for a good Kawasaki!

I would really miss the floor boards and heal toe shifter myself. But Damn it is a nice looking bike.

Hi Garry Congrats on the new ride!!!!!!
That is a surprise when we went to meat cove for chowder. You were leaning towards a wing and your wife wanted a Star Venture Transcontinental.

wow never thought you would trade the puppy in just keep racking the miles up. But like everything in life it has to end sometime for everyone of us. Congratulations on your new purchase and hope you like you have done have many many miles ahead of you in the years to come. You have been a wealth of knowledge on the Vulcan and I and many more I would guess thank you for that.

Enjoy the lighter side of riding.

Thanks for the good wishes.
We rode sport touring bikes for decades before switching to a Kawasaki cruiser in 2002 so the little toe shifter is nothing new for me. This summer I rode to all 3 of Canada's ocean coasts, the Tenere to the Arctic and pacific, and the Voyager to the Atlantic. It was on my way home from Baddeck that I realized I had more fun riding 'dirty' roads so maybe the time had come to sell Voyager. I also decided that 10 years is too long for me to ride the same bike.
We talked about another big tourer, and we may get one in a few years if the little GT doesn't fit the bill, but since 80% of the roads in Canada are not paved I think the Tenere will be our 2- up tourer. The new GW and TC are both intriguing but being first year models, heavy and way expensive I just couldn't get excited about them.
So, life being as short as it is, I'm keeping an open mind and hopefully change bikes every couple years, and since I'm not brand loyal we have a whole world of bikes to choose from.

Congratulations on the new bike Garry! Hopefully your new bike will be just as trusty as your Kawi was, and you will be able to rake up the miles on it.
