Taxes

Nothing like the last minute to get your taxes done I put them off because I kinda figured I was going to owe. tried to do them yesterday when the laptop crapped out while trying to load the tax software...Went to day at lunch and bought a new laptop,,, Taxes were not going to wait. Any way, what a surprise I'm getting money back. Happy Birthday to ME.... And a much better computer to boot.

It has been a rare occurrence when we received any money back at tax time.
In fact this year is no different, $400 more going their way.

I'll trade you guys tax bills any day. I paid in more than I ever have. Running out of depreciation. Guess I need to spend some more money so I have write offs. Hate to do it but otherwise it just goes to Uncle Sam. Wouldn't mind that so much if those a-holes knew how to manage money.

Paying taxes to Uncle Sam is like handing money to your drunken buddy.

I seem to put doing them off to the last minute as well. I never look forward to getting them done.

Did mine last week just before the federal gov. Web site was shut down because of the heart bleed bug.

Last night I drove 24 miles to get mine in the mail on time. Money Back what is that?
Gerry If I had to pay 400. I would be a happy biker on crutches. The DAMN gov doesn't want me to have any $$$ I'll fix them I'll buy a bridge that is falling down. Shouldn't be to hard to find one around here.

Yes I'm you had to get me started

Like the bumper sticker I seen " I work two jobs so you don't have to work"
Well you got me started. There should two different lines at the check outs. One for people who work. and One for people I support.
Hey if I'm supporting then why can't I claim them??? I want to do my taxes over again.

Ive done ours for the past 3 years. We had the birth of my son last year, so we knew we would get $$$ back. Almost 4K! I did my taxes Feb 4th. I checked online (the IRS wheres my refund! tool) and it told me when the funds would be deposited. 3 days before-hand, our entire house AC/heater unit went out. $3,800. I really had other plans for the funds, but I was glad the funds were there to buy what we really needed.

Getting money back is always nice in terms of cash flow, but I don't get too excited about it. They didn't give it to me. It was my money to begin with. Just means they took more than they were legally entitled to. (They always take too much, whether I get some of it back or not.)

You're exactly right. The kicker is that if you owe them and don't pay immediately the penalties and interest kick in. If they owe you they take their sweet damn time returning YOUR money.

Why does this always seem to happen? It's almost as if the amount of money you're being refunded, if you're getting refunded, is posted somewhere on a public bulletin board downtown. Something happens that you are financially responsible for in the exact amount that's being deposited in you're account. Has happened to me 4 out of the last 11 years first sign of spring. This year I spent it before I received it. On myself, before someone else came along. They can't have what I no longer have.
