Power inverters on a Nomad
Can you use a small power inverter on a 2007 Nomad?
I was wanting to put some LED Christmas lights on my bike this year during the Holidays. I already have the 12volt socket in my fairing I know some guys thinks it corny to do so, but to each his own. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I dont see why not if its a small inverter. If you have a volt meter installed you will know in short order if your current draw is too much. Ride on Santa!

It's been done. Check out oldbikers in the Christmas parade.

Last year, my daughter and her family rode my electric golf cart in the local Christmas parade. We used an inverter. The parade was delayed, much longer than we anticipated, and the lights were more taxing than I thought. Bottom line, we ended up out of juice.
While several of us were pushing the golf cart up a hill, another golf cart came by with a small Honda generator powering the lights. This year, my Honda 2000 generator will be powering mine too. :) Login or Register to Remove Ads |

They make 12v Christmas LED lights with a cig plug.I did a Google search and found all varieties. The big box hobby stores should also have them.

I was going to mention the 12 v lights also as an alternative.
If you run an inverter for every 100 watt AC you will draw approximately 10 amps dc. Just my opinion, but I would make sure that the lights you use are well under 100 watts as the inverter also uses some power and 10 amps would be about what your 12 volt cig plug is wired for if you wired it into the accessory connection. Which ever route you go I would only have them on if the bike is running as the battery is pretty small, 18 amp hour.

Neat idea, I think it would work as long as you don't overdo it.
