kuryakyn triple whammy

for those of you looking for a simple way to light up the rear end
of your nomad, might i suggest the triple whammy from kuryakyn.
it is a simple plug and play wiring harness with replacement red
turn signal lenses.it turns your turn signal lights into running
lights/brake lights and turn signals.only took me about 15 minutes
to install and it really makes a differance on how visible you are
from the rear.

I put it on my 07 and am really happy with the increased visibility from behind. My commute to work is always in the dark and being a little more visible is a good thing. The Cobra light bar up front also helps out during my commute back home in the evening. Both installs were a snap.

Yep, got it on mine too! One of the first upgrades I did to my bike.

I wasn't aware of the" Kury" triple whammy when I did mine. I went with something from Custom Dynamics. Did you go with LED or stay with the incandescent bulbs?

This is a simple plug and play unit....very easy and effective install. I used my stock bulbs and just replaced the OEM lenses with the ones that come in the kit. I did in my overly anal-retentive way have to separately order matching bezel lenses for the front turn signal lights as well......you know....just because.... !

One think I don't like about red turn signal running lights is they are not near as noticable as orange with you turn the blinkers on. IMHO

I am of the same opinion, so while I like the idea of the safety of added run / brake lights I have decided to go with extra run/ brake lights instead and leave the rear turn signals orange.

I also installed the triple whammy. See pic's below. With a red bike the single tail light does not show up much during the day. I also added a second set of Break ONLY lights, Kuryakyn HD turn signals, and matched the front turn/run lights to the rear with the Kuraykyn matching bezels. I like the look and this set up gives me a lot of break light visibility.

I wonder how the triple whammy actually works. The only way I can think of is it actually reduces the voltage to the lights during normal operation and then ups the voltage during a turn or break operation. I can't figure out any other way to make a single filament bulb do both run/turn/break. Any one else have any ideas on this. The triple whammy does seam to make my tail light a little dimmer.

By the way the date on the photo is wrong, these were taken today.

kuryakyn triple whammy

I installed the kit on my '07 just a couple of months after I purchased it. I've had riders who were following me in bright sunlight tell me that they didn't see my turnsignal very well. I do like being more visible at night though. Another thing I like about it is I spliced in my Hoppy Converter on the Kuryakyn harness just upstream of the module. This eliminated splicing into my stock wiring.
