1 more ride? Looks like a break in rain!!

I am sitting here in my office looking at blue sky and sunshine. Paper says nice weather this Fri-Mon and still in low 50's. Maybe I will get in 1 more short ride this year. I am thinking a day trip around Mt St Helens.

That would be a fun ride. Dress in layers because the temps down in the valley will be a lot warmer than near the observatory or even by Silver Lake. I wish that i could join you, but my wife and I will be raising support this weekend.

I think BigJohn is gonna try to join me for a ride this Saturday as well. Not sure where we're going to go, but Mt. St. Helens is a bit far away for us this time of year with limited daylight hours :-[.

What an awesome day Saturday (Nov. 15th)! BigJohn and his wife Nancy met Tricia and I for breakfast, then off we headed for the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry.

We headed west a short ways over the Hood Canal Bridge then south on Hwy 101 along the west side of Hood Canal. The weather was gorgeous and it wasn't even all that chilly. Dressing for it makes all the difference.

We stopped in Hoodsport for gas, a quick bite and some coffee. We then headed south again briefly, then east on Hwy 106 along the south end of the Canal to Belfair, then north into Bremerton and on home from there.

After all the monsoon rains we have had, this was a really unexpected opportunity to get a great ride in. The winter sun is definitely lower in the sky and even though it was blue sky and sunny, it can create one heck of a glare when riding into it.

All in all....it was a fabulous two thumbs up kinda day... ! Only bummer was I forgot my camera.... :-[.

We had a great day! All together we got to ride about 160 to 180 miles in the great Pacific NorthWet! Mercy, I love this place.

Good friends, good food and excellent riding weather, life doesn't' get much better.

Nancy and I parted ways with Tricia and Kris at Bremerton. We caught the Bremerton/Seattle ferry. Had to wait for almost 45 minutes. During the wait we had the opportunity to watch the fountains beside the terminal. It looks like five submarine conning towers with a fountain display that just whooshes up at various times, neat, real neat.

The ferry departed at 4:15 PM and we got to watch the sunset behind us. As we were pulling into the terminal in Seattle, the sunset was shining on the glass of the buildings in downtown Seattle. What a spectacular sight. My little cheapie camera just wasn't up to capturing the shot.

Rather than try to fight for a parking space in downtown we decided to head for home. It was much warmer on I-5 than on US101 along the Hood Canal.

Thanks for the invite and the company on the ride. We had a great time and I looks like Nancy has decided to join us for the trip to Custer next summer.

Sounds like you guys are enjoying some rides together. Good for you. The weather has been holding here in Idaho. I'm still riding my Nomad to work every day. Just have to wear gauntlet gloves in the moring is all. Days have been unusually warm and beautiful. Geat riding weather. No bugs either. While I'm loving the extra time on the Nomad we need to get on with winter and build snowpack.
You all be safe.
Bud

Thanks Idaho,

I was out your way (Twin Falls) a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately it was on business and in a cage.

Keep warm...the snow is coming!
