I noticed some cars pulled over a bit to give you more room, is this a common thing?

Cool vid. With as wide as my bike is, and as aggressive some drivers are, I'd never split lanes.

On almost any US highway or interstate there is a paved shoulder. If I ever felt the need to get through traffic, that is where i'd ride, not between cars.

Amen Brother. It only takes one Corn Hole opening a door or closing the gap on you.

Yes. Quite common... as far as I know, common across Europe.
