My longest ride to date

No big deal, but it's my longest ride ever...The distance not a big deal, but the scenery as described below on my trip back home and the many miles of curves along the way were almost incredible..

Met up with Kawanow bro' DKDixie in
waynesville NC west of Asheville, and I was most impressed with the many marvelous mods on his nomad and tried out the Diamond brand seat which is on my short list for a new seat...I learned a lot from Dick in just the couple of hours we spent hanging out, and we also had a nice lunch at Clyde's in Waynesville, which I highly recommend....

I have already ordered the phatt II risers from scootworks after seeing how comfortable they are...Also on my list is the BadBoy wolo horn....loud as can be...

on the way back I took a scenic route adn it added 90 minutes to my journey's duration but it was more than worth it...I went up a mountain on rt 74 A a few miles east of Asheville nc and adn felt it was fairly steep, and now wonder, because at the top, there was a sign proclaiming I was at the Eastern Continental divide...the road up the mountain and down the other side seemed like 30 miles long, but I am not sure..there were many switchbacks and endless curves....this 73 year old coward took the curves at speeds all the way up to 17 MPH, and got up to 11 mph on a switchback...Start road east of Asheville on 74 A and end the curves prior to getting to Chimney rock further to the east on 74A...

Then I continued on 74A through scenic and quanit Chimney Rock, NC and Lake Lure, NC, world's largest artificial lake, so I'm told....after that the scenery of the reasonably close Blud Ridge moutnains to the north was spectacular....This whole area abounds in resorts..a fairly narrow gurgling creek-like river flowed fro several stretches alongside my road..

It was a ride I'll repeat again adn again...The curves start just 50 or so miles from my home.. The entire ride was just 265 miles, but as said, it is my longest ever.

No, no photos..my camera battery is dead adn the charger is broken....someday I'll fix it up..

Excellent ride report. Sounds like a fun time for you. I always have to borrow batteries from Mrfuni when we ride together.

Hey, you know that with the switchbacks, you get extra credit miles.

Yep, I tell my wife I took a day trip, and she thinks it is in the car.....So I'm really not lying..
she thinks I have a little motorscooter...white lie, right? I guess it is more than 50 miles to the start of the curves from my home, but it isn't all that far...I'll do it again...with luck I'll have good enough weather to do so this fall yet..

You are now officially an addict... you'll never be able to stop yourself from finding every opportunity to do it again, and again, and again.

Ride safe and have fun.

You sound like the kind of dare devil I could ride with. That is how I take curves and switchbacks
I dragged my board on a switchback in NC and I was only going about 10 mph. Still scared the heck out of me. :-[
That is the only time I have ever dragged the board.
