Just got confirmation - my reservations are no good - the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort has confirmed the hotel is closed through October 31 minimum

At this rate, it will probably be a day trip

I'm not sure who all is planning on going, but like Mike, you better CALL!!!! There's a LOT of damage around there, so some places won't be ready in time. The question I keep asking myself...as well as others, is where the hell is everybody going to ride??? Last year they had what...200K people or there abouts? I-45 is the ONLY way in and out of Galveston right now. San Luis Pass & Port Bolivar roads are GONE!!!! Google Earth has an updated Satellite imagery and I've looked at all other options in and out of Galveston, and there are sections where the roads are just gone!! Sooooo.... you've got what... at even 100K people, I-45 will turn into a parking lot! It's going to be one MAD house!!!! Even though my house came out ok, I highly doubt I'll be making it this year.

That surely would be a lot of hassle and would the restaurants even be open?

The city could probably use the revenue this will bring in. I was at the Aspen Rally in Ruidoso, NM last week, and they made mention that the LSR will not be relocated this year.

I'm still up in the air as to whether to come or not. I haven't cancelled my reservations yet (Moody Gardens). Thought I would wait a little while before deciding. Anybody heard about Moody Gardens and the extent of damage to that area.

I really really want to come. Seems like every time I am gonna get to meet some of you guys- something happens.

Spoke to Cappy the other day. He called me cuz he was in McAllen. His Nat. Guard unit got called up for hurricane relief. So he's up there with you guys. PM me - I have his number - maybe you guys could track him down and take him to dinner or just say hi....

With the extent of the destruction, and the time that cleanup and recovery will take I can't see this year being much of an event; and am very surprised they didnt try to relocate it.

I'm scheduled to be off that weekend, so I'm up for a ride through the countryside if one comes about.

Kewl LW....I was supposed to have off, but as it turns out my wife's cousin is supposed to be coming in from Germany. Not sure what all my plans are now...but I'll sure as hell try and get away for a day at least. When it gets a little closer, we'll get together and see what we can plan out.

PMing you Hollywood....and THx for the update on Cappy!!
