My first bike was a '74 Ironhead Sportster, the shifter and the rear break were opposite of every other bike on the planet.

My best bike, is obviously the '05 1600 Nomad. No doubt about it!

These type threads are always interesting. My first MC was a used 67 Honda 90. I didn't have a license. I had a great time on it. I had parked it in the garage for two weeks before my father asked me one night "Is that your MC in the garage?". That was all he ever said about it. My folks gave it away when I was in the service. My first ride and the hook was around 1960 in the sidecar on some kind of BSA 650. Knew right then that I'd have my own ride some day. I remember friends having the BStones, too. Hey Idaho, if you read this--Cherry Point?--were you what we used to call "A wing wiper?" <G>. Sounds like we were in around the same time. Me 68-72. Regards.

My first was in 1968. It was a 50’s vintage Ariel. It was a single cylinder “thumper”, similar to this.

My next, and the one I got a license on was a 1965 HD Panhead in 1971. This became my first "chopper", but first looked like this. I paid $500 for it.

I had another pan after this but for only three days, and that’s a story for another post or beer. Then my pride, which I had for seven years, was 1944 HD Knucklehead. It was a 61” with 74” flywheels, oversized valves, cam, and ratchet top transmission with a suicide shift. Paid $750.

After a 28-year break seeking fame fortune and babies, I bought an ’03 Classic during the spring of ’06. Today I ride my sweetest yet, 2006 Nomad. In four months I've put 10K on’r.

The first bike I rode was a Honda 305 Scrambler. It belonged to my younger brother. He was away in the Army and I had come home on leave. I was in the Air Force. It was there in my dad's garage just begging to be ridden, so I rode the daylights out of it for the two weeks I was home. I caught the incurable disease at that time. In 1970 when I got out of the Air Force the first thing I did was buy a 65 Triumph 650 TR6. I rode that for two years commuting to Georgia Tech. I had to sell it in 1972. Needed money to fly home to Michigan for my brother's wedding. In 73 my second son was born and for many years after that there was no way I could justify spending the money for another bike. Finally, in 2006 I bought the Nomad. I figured it was now or never and just went ahead and did it. Man, I really love riding this bike! I ride every chance I get. No looking back now!

nothing like showing your age huh in 1949 i took my money in a jar to a harley dealer and bought my first bike a famous james did not keep it long traded for 125 harley then a 165 harley had many bikes since now have 1500 goldwing 1800 goldwing and a 2007 nomad ride every day that i can and will be 70 next birthday

My 1st, a 1946 Cushman in 1952. Then it was all Triumphs, 53 Thunderbird in 59 then a 59-t-120w Woods Cub then my 1st new bike a 1962 TR 6C a great bike, had a wide ratio gear box, skid plate, 12"Bars and went anywhere with Dunlap Trials Universal tires. Then a long break raising kids. Back in the saddle again in 00. Honda 450Rebel,Suzuki 800 Intruder, Triumph America, 02 Nomad,07 Nomad. I do agree with Woolfie its an Ole boys Bike, that means, Smooth Ride, Good Handling,Little Maint.,Can carry & handle large loads. AND the Price can't be beat! Takes a long time and a lot of experience,or good sense and the ability to learn from other's trial's & error's to come to the Conclusion There's not a better Ride or a better deal out there than the "Nomad" AHMEN.
