Fires in Melborne....

All accounted for thank's Trip most of us are closer to Melbourne so safe and sound but as you have seen it is a very bad time for us all.I personally have lost 4 friends to the fires while trying to save their house they left it to late to escape and died 100metres from their safe haven of smoke inhalation, as well as relatives in one of the bigger fire front areas but they are all OK so far.

Just a quick catchup guys, there's plenty to do, at least the coffee's hot. Finky sad about your loss mate, it seems to be the picture everywhere I go. Must admit the media is driving me a bit nuts with the way they are now reporting things, people need to be able to grieve and deal with things without some news hungry reporter trying to make them cry!! anyway bed, then off again. (Nice to sleep in my own bed though!)

I really don't have much to say that you don't know already. But my thoughts are with you all down there. Keep your distance from the fire, because Australian members are rare :) . The media seems to be doing a decent job, but if there is more you could add I believe everybody would like to hear about it. Take care. :) :) :)

good to see youre doing ok there aj, hope you are home again soon. (for all of our sakes) it does seem that the media is getting a bit hungry for the stories, i agree that they do need to step back a bit and let people come to terms with their losses. there must be a lot of coverage in the US itsemt, as i have had a fair bit of interest from over your way, these are the worst fires in history with whole towns and districts taken out in one of the fire alone, aj would be the best for updates but he is fairly busy at the moment fighting the fires.

Fires in Melborne....

At last count today there were 1052 houses destroyed and 181 confirmed dead as well as scores injured and critical unfortunately that does not acount for the business that have been burnt down this area is one of the most visited spots in Victoria for tourists and bike rider's.
There are still areas that have not been checked so the death toll will definately rise in the next few days. And there are grave concerns that the 2 main fires will merg over the weekend and god knows what that will cause.

The rain has come!, 35+mm in the fire areas, lets hope it stays for a couple more days. Not to much at the moment though, stuffs up the access tracks and makes em dangerous.

Now all we have to do is find somewhere nice to ride again there is not much of our best riding roads left at the moment.I would say you would be needing a good ride after the last few weeks.

You can say that again, still busy locally but nothing compared to the past 7 weeks! I'm going to take a quiet run around the peninsula just to get the wind back in my sails.

a well deserved ride by the sound of it aj, all of the fires in the last few weeks has me thinking of joining the local cfa to put a bit back into the community in times like these.
