Seems to me RDL has more business than it can handle and does not to need give anyone a 20% discount.
My vote is keep trying. Until you tell me its a definite no I will hold off on sending my seats to RDL.

Don't get discouraged...

I remain interested as well. I think that the group buy is more likely to go thru than Russell wants you to think. They have to be careful of converting full-price orders into discount orders. If they respond positively to your inquiry, they only promote more discount orders versus full-price orders. They should try to squeeze full-price orders from the market for as long as they can into the winter, and then make a decision on the group buy. I really appreciate you taking the initiative to coordinate this effort, and I would like for you to have well over 100 commitments for them to eventually consider. In the meantime I am happy enough with my Sargent. Thanks.

I might go ahead on my own if this looks like a non-starter but heck, why not keep collecting names if you have the time to do it. Thanks in any case.

I tend to agree...

I know they put the fellow off on the GL1800 forum right up until they started taking orders. There wasn't very much time in-between them giving an official thumbs up and them opening up the ordering process.

It would be hard for me as a business owner to say no to an organized 100+ customer sale during the slowest time of my retail year.

What the heck... I'm game if you guys are. I'll keep building the list and contact them again in the middle of November. Hopefully by then, I will be calling to tell them I have more than 100 orders ready to go. They can either say yes or no.

If you are on the list and decide to go ahead and schedule your order with Russell, please let me know via PM so I can remove you from the list.

As for me... I'm either ordering through a group buy or not at all. I rode in my Sargent on the FJR for an extra year waiting to get in on a group buy and I'll do the same with the Corbin currently sitting upon my Voyager. My Airhawk R will make it more than tolerable.

Yep... I'm that cheap and that stubborn!

I hope Russell comes through for you guys. I had a set on my '07 Nomad and they were nothing less than perfect. Wife and I could ride over 600 miles easily with no butt or back pain. I have to give my Canadian brothers a heads up though. Be prepared for another $125 - $150 Customs surcharge from UPS if they are the carrier. I purchased my seats from a former member from Canada. I sent him my stock seats and his RDL seats probably crossed eachother on the highway. Corey paid about $150 extra at his doorstep when they were delivered. No warning up front that you will be charged extra. Refuse to pay it and say Bye to your seats. Again, I hope it works out for all of you.

Most of the guys that have contacted me from Canada plan to have their seat shipped to a friend right across the border in the US.

Stay with it please!!!

I am still in #20. I agree with you Mike. I am cheap also and will get by with my Sargent seat for a while. Stay with it I say. Thanks Mike. This could be like a game of Chicken and see who blinks first. I am not buying one until a discount comes up.

I've had time to reflect on my conversation with Kim and it kind of makes perfect sense.

Of course they would not want to publicly commit to a group buy in early October while they are still actively receiving orders. RDL knows how rapidly the word get outs in these forums. I mean, I've gathered 50 names in three days!

It's actually pretty shrewd of RDL to give the outward appearance that they are not going to do a group buy. That way potential immediate customers don't hold off on their orders. I guess time will tell...

Everyone will hold their place on the list unless you let me know you have decided to go in a different direction. I feel pretty confident that if we can gather 50 people in three days, we'll have 75 more by the end of the month.
