New from Canada..

Hi gang..

So I've been riding bikes off and on for about 30 years.. but never had a cruiser before. Was always more into the sport touring type thing but feeling more inclined towards the laid back way of going down the road these days.

So sure like the looks of the Nomads, don't have one just yet..., looking at a 1999, green 1500 with 45K on it, it's not Fi and has carbs.. have not been over to see it just yet but figure I will go with a smaller budget, looking at around 3 thousand for it.

Or ...do I spend a little more and get a 1600..2007 or 2008 vintage bike.

Will be commuting on it and going for local weekend rides out in the country but staying pretty local on it... but ya never know.

Anyway, great forum....thanks.

Spend a bit more and go FI, once you go FI you'll never go back. I bought a 1600, and I will never go back to carbs again, and once I sell the wife's starter bike.......FI for her too.

Hey thanks..

Yes I figure Fi would be a good way to go, never had a bike with Fi. I might save up my coin a little more and look for a deal on a 1600. A few more months before spring here yet anyway... and the 1600s look good.

Anything I need to look out for on picking up a used 1600.

Anyway, I will go look around the forum... Thanks..

Welcome to the Forum. I'm from Missouri. Don't know if your interested but there is a very good buy right here on the forum right now. The member who has it posted says its excellent. You can bet your bottom dollar that it is then. He knows his stuff. A little out of budget but you will make that up real easy with a no worry bike. Already has a ton of mods for you too.

That looks awesome, I would snap it up but I live in Quebec Canada and bringing it across border and all might be a bit of a pain.

There are a few around here I've seen, like this one http://www.kijiji.ca/v-moto-chopper/...008/1025878135

And there are others... need to get a few things in order but sure got the bug.. again.

Welcome, from a fellow Canuck! I bought a 2000 1500 FI 2 years ago and love it, the FI is definetly worth a few extra bucks. Good luck in your search!

Welcome from Oklahoma. There's a lot of good 1500 FI's out there too. Take your time and I'm sure you'll find a good deal.

Skip the 99, they have a plastic oil pump drive gear that can be very problematic. Any other year nomad is fine, just avoid the 99.

Hello and Welcome. I would go for the 2008 that you posted the link for.

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-moto-chopper/...008/1025878135

Prices usually go up in the Spring.

Thanks for the heads up on the plastic oil pump drive gear on the 99. That's the kind of info/help I was looking for.
http://www.kijiji.ca/v-moto-touring/laval-rive-nord/kawanomad-vert-2-ton-1999/1049582945?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true I was looking at this one but not now...LOL.

The 2008 is a bit out of my budget but I called them up and they still have it, and I might just go put a down payment on it and hold it till spring.

I was lookin at this one too, what you all think, a 2007 with a little less k and not so much coin and I like the black/grey color.. Need to see if they still have it, they had a 2005 but it's gone...I missed it.. and it would have been good too.

Thanks folks

07 looks good. Almost half the k's on it compared to the 08 and few coins less. I would go check it out!

Yes, they had a 2005 with the same K and even less money, I sent them an e-mail and it was taken. The 2007 looks good, I can see a small scratch in the side bag but what the hell, it's just a scratch.

I'm on it and sent them a E-mail on that one.. this is great, you're all very helpful and so supportive, ...that's good.
