Dropped My Nomad (The Cajun) Today

I have a bad habit that finally got me today. The habit--when I stop the bike, I have a bad habit of wanting to take my but off the sit to adjust my position. Sometimes the bike leans one way or the other; however, I am usually able to make the correction before the bike leans to far. This time, I could not correct it in time and the bike when down at a stop sign. The Cajun fell on her right side. Fortunately, the crash bars did there job and the Cajun was not damaged. Only thing hurt was my pride, as there were several cars behind me waiting to approach the stop sign.

Well, I intend to work hard on keeping my but in the saddle from this point forward.

No blood, no foul...

! These bikes are heavy. I have so far been lucky, but I have come to a stop and put my foot down on a loose leaf that when down pressure was added...slipped like I was wearing skates...

! Luckily I have recovered in time (without a major groin injury)....but lets face it....it is only a matter of time before this happens to us all.... :-/.

Ive had the same experience a couple of times, but so far Ive managed to catch it, one time in the garage it started to go over and I really strained my back when I pulled it back up. It probably would have been better to let it land softly rather than have a sore back for a few days.

Once it reaches the point of no return you aren't going to stop it unless you're built like the Hulk.

I dropped my last bike (03 1500) when my foot slipped on a pebble in a parking lot with the wife on the back. She went flying and got a little road rash. The rest of that day sucked for me!! :-/ :-/

A couple of times I have had the bike lean and it is always a surprise when I realize it is over and I am still straining. I find it amazing how upright the bike is when it is on its side.

Been there, posted about it. Like you, my crash bars did their job and Lucille didn't sustain any damage. Too bad no one makes crash bars to protect our pride, that would be a million dollar idea.

I had mine go over on me also. After i washed the bike i moved it to the bottom of the driveway in the shade i must not have pushed the kickstand all the way forward i got off the bike and walked back up the driveway and heard a loud noise behind me... I knew what is was with out turning around!!! Its amazing how much pride helps to lift that bike back up....lol

How do you get the bike back up, I weigh about 165 and bike weighs close to 800lbs. just what is the technique used to pick it up.

I picked mine up once and I've got 100 pounds on you. I just grabbed the handlebars and stood it back up. It wasn't easy, but when you have an a**hole in a BMW honking at you, you'd be surprised what you can do.

Just dropped mine at the campground last weekend. Stopped to drop off trash, left it in neutral not noticing the slight incline and it rolled off the kickstand even before I had time to get off of it.

What I have learned from the few times I have set it down is that it is much easier to pick back up than to recover from pulled muscles trying to catch it. Just give her a nice soft landing is all and I don't even try to catch it once I know shes going over. Gotta love those crash bars

I was wondering also whether his feet were on the ground or on the floorboards. I do adjust my butt on the seat when I stop but only when my feet are planted firmly on the ground.

My left foot was down, right was on the floorboard. The bike went down on the right side.

there is a way to pick up a fallen bike without killing yourself..with the bike down turn with your back to the bike put your butt in the seat grab the bike just below the seat and walk backwards useing mostly your leggs just be careful when you get almost all the way up. its easier if the bike is on its right side cause you can put the kick stand down so when the bike comes upright it lands on the stand...i think you can watch a video of this on ride like a pro .com
