Florida Meetup

It's been suggested that we begin this thread and see what everyone can agree on so we get the maximum number of Florida riders to attend. Before we talk about dates lets first agree on a location.

I'd like to try to find a central place in the state that we can all meet. My first thought is Floral City FL.

There is a great biker friendly bar and grill called Sleepy Hollow. The roads for riding afterward are very nice.

Lets start with that town and tell me who just can't make it there and back in a day. We can always adjust the meeting place.

Mike,

it's 3 hours via the turnpike, 4 taking a back road or two. Won't be much time for a local ride but we could make a nice day trip out of Floral City.

Mike,
About 450 miles RT for me running up the interstate. Doesn't make for a lot of additional riding that day.

Maybe one day I can get you North Florida riders to make a trip down south.

Is the Key West idea dead?

I know it's going to be a long trip for some. The panhandle & Jacksonville groups will also have a long day of it.

Maybe we can consider an over nighter. Find a campground / hotel / cabins close by. Maybe do a lunch a ride then a campfire BBQ at one of the campgrounds.

Please feel free to submit ideas that can get all of us together.

One good thing about our state, east to west is a quick deal. Bad thing is north to south is a long way.

The Key West deal is still a go but I'm with Mike on this one about a central location ride in with maybe an over night deal, so that we can do a little riding early and everyone can get home.

East to west in the panhandle is a different story. I can go from here in CR to Daytona in 2 hours and change.

...Leeanne voted to camp overnight at Cedar Key. Plan a Saturday ride in...back home on Sunday. Those that want can motel it. This would be the Key West replacement since it kind of died...

Hmm, we may be interested in Floral City. We have drove the VW Rabbit through there and all we said was "wish we were on the Nomad." It has some pretty areas.
Remember, the Sebring bike event is THIS weekend. That is also a nice ride.
The weather is nicer now so maybe this will happen.

Oh, BTW, If we go turnpike to the end plus adjoining roads it is about 2.5 - 3 hours for us one way. Still a nice ride.

The Key West thing have a firm date yet? I'd like to do it but can't over the weekend before Christmas.
Floral city is 150 miles one way for me which is no problem. Another couple of options for consideration are somewhere in Daytona? or Stumpknockers in Dunneleon?
We need to try and get the Reaper (Doug) from St Aug and BigSid (Mike) from sw FL to join in!

Fool me once...lol That is not much further than Mikes alleged "not a wrench party" just no highway (approx 3 hrs vs 2). So what I am saying is if you guys are actually gonna be there I'm in... Seriously it sounds like a great place..

To the people from Jax, maybe we can ride over together.

Gramps, where's palm coast? Is it close to St Augustine? Or down by Canaveral?

I would be glad to ride over with anyone. I'd normally go down through the middle of the state and cut diagonal through the forest then come out around Ocala to get to the area they are talking about but I'd consider any route as long as it doesn't involve Atlanta or Miami. I am not wild about interstates but can do them if I have to.
