How are the North Central members holding up?

Given this unbelievably cold weather and the amount of snow we have been having; I was wondering how everyone is holding-up in the North Central Region.

I figure I have about 10-12 weeks before it begins to be warm enough for me to ride again; but I may try to get out earlier this time around.

It seems to get tougher each winter to put up with this cr@p!!

How are the North Central members holding up?

Well, we're trying to stay positive here in ND, but I'm getting cabin fever big time! We've had a long winter already, and there will be at least two full months of it left. I had my first ride of 2008 on March 19 last year, but we didnt' have nearly as much snow then. We are getting close to a snow record now, with well over three feet on the ground. It will be a while before it's all gone. They're predicting some of the large piles will still be around in June. Hard to say, but they just might be correct!
My Nomad has been parked since November 18, so that's two months ago tomorrow. Probably have that much of a wait before it comes out of the garage. Can't wait. Hang in there, everybody!

I am not. I am going nuts. I never thought I would hate snow and cold so much. And having a north facing house. I am hoping I can get out in the next few weeks. If we only could get a few days above freezing.

I have to admit; this weather is getting tough to "put-up with".

If the cold isn't enough; where I live we rarely get much sunshine -- which really makes the days seem more gloomy.

I have tried to snowmobile and other winter-sports; but I have to say; nothing is like the warm air and riding the motorcycle.

I figure around 10 weeks before it will be warm enough for me to ride.

Try to hang in there, everyone. It's been a long winter, but it has to end sometime. Doesn't it?????

How are the North Central members holding up?

I am going nuckin futs. A couple years ago I kept my vmax in the garage all winter and actually got out to ride the last day of february. THe Nomad doesn't fit in the garage with the snowblower so it is in the shed. One of these days I will be firing up that snowblower to cut a path to the shed and have some buddies help me push it back into the garage.

I remember my grandfather always saying that all the snow that has fallen by Valentine's day is half of what you are going to get for the year. That usually holds pretty true. We usually have some nice thawing at the end of Feb into March and then get blasted again in March. That usually melts in a week or two though.

I keep trying to pull my hair out but it has been gone for years. I have a serious case of P.M.S. (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome). No amount of alcohol has helped, I have been trying.

My car is covered in about two inches of salt; and it has been too cold to wash it. Not real happy with letting it set for too long -- but don't have any choices thus far. I kind-of hate to complain too much about the road-salt either though since there were days without it would have been impossible to travel.

Moving south?... that has been a consideration of mine for years; however my job sticks me here -- although oddly enough it technically could be done anywhere in the U.S.

I blame my parents for having settled in the Midwest rather than the south. It is all their fault -- at least that's what I tell them.

I wonder if my kids will blame me. :) I have seen only about half of the states and so far I haven't come away with one I would move to. I like New England 3 seasons out of a year, but it's gotten expensive and the winters are worse than here. I hate humidity too. Not too many places left...

If you can deal with the cold and snow we do live in the least expensive region of the country.

I didn't even put Sta-bil in the tank- I didn't think it would be this long between rides! The good news is Thursday's forecast is sunny and 48. Boy am I ready. I can't imagine how you tolerate it where these occasional days don't happen..

Mike;

Occasional days?

Heck; if I were a bit further north it might be possible that the only warm days in a year could fall within a work week -- whereby I would miss the entire riding season!!
