I'm from NW Indiana and this group is closer to me than Maine and I was hoping I could switch over. Anyone got a problem with this?

Actually, I live on the south end of Lake Michigan and look out over the lake 22 miles at Chicago every morning it's clear. I can also drive to the Loop in 25 minutes, I'm in a time zone that is central where the rest of Indiana is eastern, in fact, the rest of the state of Indiana doesn't even recognize that we are part of their state, which is kinda weird considering we have the most beautiful lake in the world. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

Caddmann11:

Welcome aboard. I know a couple others in other regions that are in a similar situation. Based on the premise of this group; never too many to join in.

You are about 2 hours from me by car. I am in Rockford, IL -- dead central of the north border of the state 10 minutes from Beloit, WI.

From where you are; I would think riding north along the Lake Michigan shore into Michigan would be a nice ride. Haven't done in it in over 20 years but I remember it was quite scenic/quaint and that the shores of Lake Michigan were much better on that side.

My wife and I ride into Michigan all the time. Not too much traffic and nice driving along the lake. We've taken the bikes and stayed at a few B&Bs up there, that's always nice. Since my wife rides her own bike, I really worry if we ride west from here, to much traffic and not enough protection for her in that traffic.

Understood. You have to dip well below the Chicago "scary" congestion to do that. I do see bikes riding on the toll-roads (Dan Ryan and etc) all the time when I go into the city. I would never do that -- far too scary in a car most of the time.
