Just throwing this out there

The National is over now... In another year we will be having regionals. May be it's time to start thinking about it.

Not really. I'm from NY State and it is a toss up as to which state is the most screwed up state in the nation, mine or theirs.

Just throwing this out there

So... what was this thread all about?

Wasn't it for the North Central Region group... that is until a few from other region members started butting-in????

We need to have a password for our regional site! Just saying!

Ponch... a short discussion was had in Maggie Valley by those of us from the NCR about next year's regional rally. Several ideas were tossed around; including possibly having our regional outside of our region's boundaries.

There remains few choices in the states involved in our region. Southern Illinois has some nice areas. South Dakota has the Black Hills; however it is located at the far western edge of the region -- thus making it quite a trip for some.

I am fairly sure Iowa is limited in its offerings -- except along the Mississippi River; or possibly along its most western border.

Minnesota has some areas that are good to ride -- mostly however toward the Mississippi.

So, here we are again with trying to find a spot that is somewhat centrally located; but still offers a reasonable riding-experience for those attending.

I suggested we center out of La Crosse for the regional in 2012.

It is somewhat centrally located to the region. There are far more things to do in La Crosse (than Prairie du Chien) for anyone wanting a "night-life", more restaurants, or other choices in the evenings.

There are dozens of different routes we could ride that branch-out in all directions from La Crosse. All of these would be new to anyone attending the 2010 regional.

There are more great routes than we would have time to ride.

It is difficult to find an area within our region having a consistent number of roads that provide twisting, hilly, and sometimes challenging roads like the La Crosse area does (excluding the Black Hills of course).

The area roads and terrain are why so many "clubs and groups" have their rallies annually in that area.

So there... that is my suggestion.

Ultimately it is up to Dave and Rayski to make the final decision. ;)

LaCrosse might be good. Lots of microbreweries in Wisconsin. I have heard the ride up what they call the north shore in Minnesota is supposed to be nice. I just thought I would bring it up as no one else had. Hopefully I wasn't out of place.

Sorry Greg, I didn't realize this was a NCR only thread.
I never go to individual sections on here. I click on most recent topics at the top of the page. After that I go to new topics. I will start reading where they are originally posted and stay out of your regional posts and threads.
Geez, I though we were friends. :'(
