I guess I am confused. Normal, IL if for the 10th.... Columbus, IN is for the night of the 11th.

We arrive at MV on Sunday the 12th.

We leave our house on the 10th. You and the "northern squadron" hook up with us at Normal IL on the 11th. We travel together to Columbus where we spend the night. We arrive at Maggie Valley on the 12th. Badger has reservations.

We are really looking forward to the ride! I feel fortunate at the way we have been welcomed to your group. Many thanks Dave! But this happens with Nomad riders. We were at Glacier last year for the N.W. Region rally and met some great people and made new friends. I am looking forward to doing the same in 9 days!

Fantastic of you to join us! Should be a good trip. You'll just have to endure quite a few miles of the "flat-lands" getting to Indiana. After that on the 12th, the scenery will only improve on our way to Maggie Valley!

I am now assuming you were able to get rooms in Columbus, IN for the 11th. I was just worried about that for you.

We'll now have about eight bikes (unless you both are have one); and there will be 13 people in the group. A good size for a long ride.

I (unfortunately) will be trailering my bike to Columbus, and then riding it the rest of the way there. I have some injuries that I don't want to aggravate before getting there so I can't ride while there.

Thank you for the welcome Greg. Sorry to hear about your problems with injuries and bike parts. But look at it this way, if you do have a "patchwork Nomad" at least you will have a very unique bike to show off.

We may have met in Custer. Ruth and I were at the banquet and met some nice people. I must admit I didn't do any of the rides. I have ridden every paved road in the Hills (and some of the gravel) and I guess I just wimped out about riding them in the rain. I wish I had though, I have found that as I meet or contact more Nomad riders they are all great people.

We are excited about the ride and meeting more great people! Nine more days!

Ha! I hear what you are saying.

I unfortunately don't remember meeting you at Custer. I met so many that I lost count at one point. I apologize for that if we did; but we'll meet again and this time I won't forget.

Regarding a patch-work Nomad... it actually will be a patch-work Harley. I sold my Nomad after Custer in July of '09 and bought an Ultra-Classic. It fits the riding I do. I needed the luggage and storage, and am not real handy with a wrench, so I couldn't see me putting all of that on my Nomad myself. Thus the UC.

So far KawaNOW has allowed me to stick around. I just have to take all the grief for the bike I ride!

Anyway... sounds like the dealer will have the bike done this Friday with all new parts... so it should be somewhat like new and ready to go for the trip.

Hey Greg,
Glad to hear that your UC will be ready to ride to MV. How are you healing up? Bringing the trailer with is a good idea, if you feel you need a break you can load her up and ride in comfort for a bit. Did you forget about the map as a pdf file? When we roll into MV on the 12th, it looks like there will be two cars, one trailer, eight bikes, and thirteen people. Not a bad showing at all! Wasn't that about the same size as the very first Kawanow rally?

No... seriously... that is damned near what we had for our regional rally. Which by the way... many that attended that are on this ride... which makes me think we have made a few friends that otherwise we may have lived our live missing out on. ;)

Did you get your bike back yet?

No.

I am in Orlando at a conference until Wednesday night (late); so can't pick it up until Thursday or Friday.

Once I went over the last details of the "final-parts-list" to be added-on, they needed to order some more and then put them on. Since I was going to be gone on a business trip, I told them to go ahead and take this week to finish putting them on and that I would settle this thing with my insurance company if needed.

I also asked that they have two techs sign-off on the safety of the bike before I ride it. They told me they would have this done on Friday at the very latest. I gave them until 3pm on Friday.

We'll see. If not, I will rent down in Waynesville, NC from the HD dealer there, only a few miles from MV.

Well said, Greg! We've made genuine friends we never would have met and known. My solo trip in May was extra special because I had the opportunity to spend quality time with guys I've met in Kawanow.
